You calling it casual doesn't make it casual, player vs player activities are by basic knowledge competitive.
We don't even have legitimate sbmm we barely had it a few days before players like yourself -blam!- a fit your games were actually competitive and demanded sb be loosened even more. At this stage we have more cbmm with a skill algorithm then anything and it's truly sad.
Can we please stop with the "I have to use the meta" excuse it's out dated and proven false. You choose not to play your way because you want to win if you didn't care about winning you'd use whatever you wanted.

My god STOP with this nonsense thinking. By these stupid notions even PvE is competitive because it throws a score up at the end. You’re not adding anything except a dumb take. SBMM has ruined a tonne of games out there, just because you’re shooting other players doesn’t mean you’ve been training your life to get a gold medal and should spend every match playing like you might not get a chance for another win for four years. Casual and competitive are NOT mutually exclusive. Trials and control are NOT on the same level. This should be straight forward and simple, but it seems a whole bunch of people out there read a dictionary to navigate life, there is more to it than simply black and white definitions.

It makes it a game, it doesn’t make it a competitive game though. What differentiates casual and competitive modes are rewards, ranks, and commitment. Casual Game modes don’t require a large commitment to start or leave, making them fine to hop in and out at will. They also don’t give skill based rewards, everyone on both teams are rewarded for participating. Finally, there is no ranking system to fight over, and therefore nothing to risk. Competitive game modes on the other hand have commitments, win based rewards, and ranks to gain and lose. I’d liken it to a sport like basketball. A pickup 3v3 basketball game is a casual mode, because there’s nothing to compete over, and a 3v3 Basketball tournament is a competitive mode, because there are rewards, prestige, and a commitment to your team.

Your opinion and view are noted. It still doesn't change the fact that activities that pit player or players against other players or player are competitive. Doesn't matter if it's 1v1 2v2 3v3 4v4 and so on still competitive. You don't want (casual) you want easy.

Ok, let me explain it again to you. Just because you are facing off against others, doesn’t make the game inherently competitive. It just makes it a game. For it to be a competitive game, there must be a thing to compete for. Competitive mode matchmaking actively value skill levels, because it’s what’s fair. Since there is usually a thing to compete for. Casual mode matchmaking values quick, high quality matchmaking, because maybe you want to hop in and play a 10 min match that you might have to leave in the middle of. Since there is no rewards on the line, it should be fine. There is a distinct difference between these modes that you are not really addressing when you only say “all PvP is competitive, because there’s a winning side and a losing side.”
-
Yet none of the modes you mention exist in destiny pvp. All games types reward you with loot, player k.d advancement, and rank up points. I repeat your opinion is noted but pvp activities by known evidence and knowledge are competitive. You want a supposed casual pvp go play a board game well call it casual even tho it aint.

Trials functions as our very loose competitive tournament, since you’re competing over the lighthouse and wins to get there, and the rotator playlist function as our “no stakes” game mode. The other modes need a rework to either make them fully competitive where winning matters or more casual with less commitments.
