Seasonal format: Good for destiny veterans, bad for new light players.
DLC Format (D1): Good for new light players, somewhat bad for Destiny veterans.
Let me explain.
Seasonal format for this kind of game for the destiny vets are awesome because we can come back anytime for a new season and know how the game works and what has happened leading up to that season. However for new light players, if they start playing in any new random season, they have no direction on anything or what anything means.
DLC Format is great for new light players because the story is easily broken down from the first campaign of the game through the few DLCs that are released. It’s more organized and easy to digest. Not only that, there’s no FOMO on a random season. New light players will never know what happened in some random season and it’ll never make sense. The bad part is the content drought that the vets go through. But bungie had a great answer to that with Weekly changing loot from vendors, strike specific loot, and other ever changing things that D2 simply don’t have.
TLDR: Bungie should’ve stuck with the DLC format. /opinion.
