They can't use SBMM for the flawless card system. It breaks it, moves it away from who's better in the total population to who's better in a small band of skill.
The mode itself just doesn't work when trying to keep a large portion of the population engaged, doesn't matter how many different crappy angles they try to take. People get the rewards they want and get out, getting pub stomped just becomes demoralizing. The same bottom up player fade happens every time they trials starts up again.
After losing, and losing, and losing to 3 stacks over and over feeding the machine I get the frustration a lot of people are feeling. There's not going to be any way around it though, not while Bungie has to keep the flawless system working.

Agreed. Which is why I said that the changes that Bungie planned for the playlist were a good first step, but weren't going far enough. Ulimately, Flawless has to go. It is NOT a mechanic/achievement that is compatible with a healthy, competitive and accessible playlist. As long as Trials that that predatory edge to it that flawless keeps in play? People will bail once the loot pinata is empty. Because the actual experience of PLAY just becomes miserable and it just isn't worth it beyond a certain point. But if the experience is competitive, then bulk of players will enjoy playing....and the experience itself becomes rewarding. So it doesn't have to worry about trying to BRIBE people to play.
Ulimately, Flawless has to go.
This what the revamp should have done in the first place. Flawless cannot be maintained without a large portion of the players being rofl stomped into the ground thus defeating the point of having a retaining playerbase of a playlist.
