It’s a shame too, because Destiny used to have one of the best communities. Oddly enough, it’s seemed to decline in exact tandem with the over all quality of the game.

  • Destiny’s community has never been remotely close to being one of the best.

  • For many years it was nominated for best community award. We had people like Mynameisbyf, and an absolute crap load of fan artists making content. Cosplayers, people 3D printing the guns from the game. Yeah, the forums have always been a cesspool, but that’s just how forums are. For a great many years this community was in fact brilliant. But most of the dedicated content creators have moved on, lore videos have dried up, and I rarely see fan art anymore.

  • I don’t think that big name creators and the like determine whether a community is good or not.

Content creators are literally what binds a community together. You’re welcome to think whatever you want, but that is literally the beating heart of a video game community. Without artists inspiring people, it just divulges into toxicity and bickering, and those who wish to create move to greener pastures. You know, like exactly what happened with Destiny. Video game forums have always been where people come to complain and argue, it’s subreddits, content creators, Discord’s etc where a community actually exists.
