They just need to alter the mechanic. You need to be able to dodge it with awareness and reaction time. Also if they stomp on the ground(!) and you still get hit by the stomp, despite dodging in the air, it makes no sense IMO. Stomp mechanic in general I don't think needs to go, but give us better ways to DODGE it.

  • They should do what Warframe did with the jackal boss. Just make a shock wave go through the ground that you can jump over if you time it.

@Radioactive58 That's a good example. Something like that would already be good enough for me. Alternatively they can add a system like Wildstar where you had to "kick" (to kick means to interrupt) the enemies when they are doing a rage attack (which could lead to a teamwipe or wipe of the person near the enemy, if it was a strong enemy) So in Wildstar the kicks were interruption abilities. The enemies had bars over their heads like in Destiny with the healthbars, above or below that health bar were the interruption bar, when the enemy raged you had to quickly interrupt it. Depending on the enemy you needed a different amount of interruptions (kicks). Some classes had more, some less interruptions, for very strong enemies, dungeon/raids, you needed a whole communication how many players interrupt and in which order since your interruptions had a cooldown and if you all spammed it together you won't have enough interruptions available for the next rage. Of course in Destiny, since it's a shooter, it doesn't has to be that complex, but an interruption bar would be another solution. And the ability that could do that interruption could just be your melee, like I shoot ur face said. So if you timed it correctly you could interrupt it. Alternatively you could dodge it. Honestly I'd like to see more mechanics in Destiny that Wildstar had. Not 1:1 implemented but Wildstar had, im my opinion, the best boss design and mechanics ever. Another good thing would be that Bungie could keep the stomp mechanic and even make them a bit more complex. It could mean that you need players that play at more close range to be able to interrupt the enemies, otherwise they would enrage and make your life hard and maybe wipe your whole team. The maybe good thing by implementing such mechanic would be that they wouldn't need to nerf sniper rifles (like many people seem to dislike, that Bungie is doing that upcoming season) nor they would need to nerf stomp mechanics nor removing them entirely. With an interruption mechanic, Bungie would encourage players to pick several roles in a team. So not all players could play sniper, since the sniper would be too far away to interrupt the enemy and hence would not have the time to do it in the right time. @Bungie: Seriously. Have a look at Wildstar. I know Destiny is a shooter, but I believe some mechanics from there could really help with the necessary changes, for example those stomp mechanics (or mechanics that are similar to those stomps) in Destiny 2. Wildstar was my favorite game in regards of MMORPG gameplay and, even Destiny's raids and dungeons are very great – I really love them – the dungeons, raids and expeditions (Wildstar's name for "strikes") were the most creative and perfect gameplay mechanics I have ever seen in a game and it blew my mind. I still think about Wildstar from time to time (it's dead since over a year). Of course Destiny is primarily a shooter and just has MMORPG elements, hence it can't be compared with Wildstar nor can you one to one borrow/implement mechanics from there. But I realllly think Bungie should take a look at Wildstar. Maybe they get more ideas how to improve the stomp mechanics and make new interesting raid enounters without stilll-standing raid bosses (in Wildstar raid bosses either moved all the time or had an attack pattern that FORCED the players to move all the time, sniping? forget it, movement and dodging was very important) For example the psion boss in that strike where I forgot the name. The psion that moves and hovers in the air and makes it not that easy to hit with a sniper riflle. STILL, with practice, Izanagi (or equal alternatives) are the BEST option. So instead of NERFING the sniper rifles, Bungie could alter the boss encounter like this: The psion boss never stands completely still, also there must be a minimum number of adds that spawn. That would force players to stay in movement, clearing adds and DPSing the boss. But because players need to stay in movement the option to use a sniper rifle would be a worse choice than using a weapon which allows mobility and precision same time, like submachineguns or autorifles for example. I think this would be better than just nerfing the sniper rifles.
