So I don’t disagree it’s in a sorry state at the moment but I think it’s a good thing to have unlike some of the people commenting. And actually I’d add I’d rather take someone who is actively trying to learn than some of the pugs I’ve had with us in the past that won’t shut up and listen or admit they’re making mistakes. As the leader of a pretty active clan and someone who has led quite a few raids I’d say this as a reason for the poor uptake:
When we’ve tried to run a raid with guided and Sherpa through we often found we were getting matched with people who didn’t even have a functional microphone. On console, It isn’t possible to do a raid unless you have a mic, if something goes wrong you can’t tell anyone. Even if you know what your doing this still happens and that’s ok, but it’s a problem if your team keeps wiping because of something easily preventable if you could just tell everyone.
The next thing is something you’ve already mentioned; the language barrier. If someone doesn’t speak the same language it can be a real issue.
Lastly, the power requirement is completely stupid for this. I’ve been matched up with people using absolute rubbish gear before and who are only just able to get in to the raid. That’s great, I know people get excited to give the endgame challenges a go but honestly nobody, even sherpa’s, enjoys and wants to drag you through a raid with you constantly dying and messing everything up for the group.
So how should they actually fix it? They need to give clans willing to actually do the guided games more control over the matchmaking process. I want to be able to specify at least that the other person has a mic, then light level and language of the person I’m trying to take through.
As for incentive for clans to Sherpa through new players? I mean I don’t mind doing it if the person isn’t an ass, is willing to listen and is powerful enough not to wipe every 10 seconds. But maybe like a unique set of weapons and armour would be a good incentive. Even a special pinnacle weapon that actually does something useful would be a nice reward. And some triumphs too. Maybe a title?
There’s a lot you could do with it.
Oh yeah, if they added unique rewards be them tangible or cosmetic that could be great, the same goes for fixing the problem with microphones and speaking the same language, one is supposed to be part of the rules, the other is just lazy code. As for a raid that just goes poorly, maybe a reward for amicably disbanding? So that you don’t lose rewards just because you couldn’t beat it with the seekers?
