I’d also like to mention the 20-40% increase in damage to all primary weapons and snipers in PvE. If you work out the damage, it will be roughly the same.
Rampage is being adjusted to be more like pvp in PvE as far as how much damage is boosted.
Take it like this. Say right now, Autos are dealing 100 damage per bullet in PvE.
- One stack of Rampage Grants +35% Damage. 100 +35% = 135 Damage.
- two stacks Grants 50%. 100 +50% = 150.
- three stacks Grants 65% Damage. 100 +65% = 165 Damage.
Now Autos are getting a +25% Increase to base damage on the low end. And Rampage will grant 10%, 25%, and 35% bonus on activation.
Now Autos will be dealing 125 damage at base in PvE on the low end.
- 1 stack of Rampage will now grant 10%. 125 + 10% =137 Damage.
- 2 stacks will Grant 25%. 125 +25% = 156.25.
- 3 stacks will grant 35%. 125 +35% = 168.75.
As you can see we’ll be doing slightly more damage after the update even with the nerfs to damage perks. This was more to reduce our dependency on these perks and allow other perks to flourish.
Kill clip:
currently Grants +50% Damage on activation. Keeping our example of an auto dealing 100 damage now.
- 100 + 50% = 150 Damage.
- 125 + 33% = 166.25 Damage.
Swashbuckler:
currently Grants 13% per stack in PvE and up to 33% in pvp.
- 100 + 13 = 113
- 100 + 26 = 126
- 100 + 39 = 139
- 100 + 52 = 152
- 100 + 65 = 165
Now:
- 125 + 6.6 = 133.25
- 125 + 13.2 = 141.5
- 125 + 19.8 = 149.75
- 125 + 26.4 = 161.352
- 125 + 33 = 166.25
Precision damage increases with damage as it is a multiplier. The nerf to precision damage reduced the multiplier by 50%.
Using an auto Rifle, 100 Damage per shot as usual. Rapid fire AR’s have a precision Damage multiplier of 1.5. Now reduced to 1.25 with the change (a 50% reduction in bonus damage.)
Base damage * precision multiplier * Kill Clip
(No kill clip)
100*1.5*1 = 150
125*1.25*1 = 156.25
(Kill Clip)
100*1.5*1.5= 225
125*1.25*1.333= 208.3
The only time you’re loosing damage is at the higher stacks of a Damage bonus. This will only noticeably effect kill clip, 3x ramapage, and 4&5x Swashbuckler. At that point it’s just maybe 1 more rapid Fire AR bullet to kill. Not really noticeable.
Not saying it’s a great thing for them to do, but it’s not the end of the world. People need to pay attention to the total view before jumping to conclusions. If anything we need to wait until shadowkeep comes out before we go crazy. This just shows that the damage boosting perks will still be just as strong. Bungie is just making it easier for us to pick things like zen moment, Field Prep or Triple Tap over a Damage perk instead of just tossing out the weapon.

We won't be doing more dmg we will be doing less, HC no longer 1 tap even with rampage active trash mobs were 2 taps to kill at higher light level, we lost 50% precision dmg an only gained a 20% I think base dmg the lose in precision dmg is not being made up by body shots doing more dmg.

Cool math,. But reducing the dependency comment doesn't make sense at all. The perk is either the main reason to use the gun, or is part of the entire roll that makes it work. Swashbucklers biggest perk difference from rampage is that you can easily activate it with a red bar kill. What else are you supposed to "depend" on? Changing the weapon? That makes no sense at all. And if the numbers end up being the same.....then what the hell was the point. At the end of the day, it's across the board nerfs. A LOT OF THEM TOO
-
Rampage 1 went from 35% to 10% The base damage increases are not the same across the board. Pulse rifles...are getting a small base buff averaging 13% or so. They are weak as hell. But the exotic is getting a 35%buff. Doesn't make sense At the end of the day, the game desperately needs more interesting perks....and there's no indication there's any coming

If the numbers aren’t changing, how can that be a nerf? My point with Swashbuckler and Rampage is that they both have the same damage as what we have now but our damage without them is going to be higher that what it is now. Bungie said that damage perks were basically all that we were looking for on a gun. This prevents a lot of perks that do some really good stuff (Field Prep, Triple Tap, zen moment) from seeing use. You’ll be doing roughly the same damage as you’re doing now (maybe even a little better) with damage perks, but you’ll be doing considerably better without damage perks than using a gun without damage perks now.

LOLLLOL) or useless on certain rolls triple tap). That's like saying we should be using garbage exotics more. The core issue is that there isn't enough good/unique perks. This is they game.... They can make them...so why don't they And again, if the damage is so similar, then what's really the point

Exactly....such bizzare thinking The warlocks best looking robe - with the ornaments... Is LITERALLY USELESS. Why hasn't it been changed by now Warlocks best looking helmet...the stag + ornament...is USELESS because the perk sucks
-
The best use of rifts is currently for arc warlock+ getaway plan (or whatever) gloves. Thats a great usage scenario that the stag can't match at all And really...rifts....no. Its not even remotely useful 99% of the time.

True. But I do know 3rd grade math and can look at what they give us and make a prediction on how this will end up. I don’t really agree with what’s happening with this, but it’s just no where near as bad as everyone’s saying.
