According to light.gg less than half the playerbase has legend of acrius. Which one can acquire by clearing the leviathan raid once. Less than half the playerbase has yet to clear the first raid in the game. They really need to make raids more accessible.

And that's mostly the people who are still Left playing the game. You still have the millions who dont touch it any more who never completed a raid because of the same reasons. Its a terrible system. Lobbies, in world connections, boards, etc. THAT'S how you get an MMO moving, Bungie has basically ignored the primary sources of player interaction when it comes to making meaningful in world connections. They lost exponentially more players than expected because of it, but they continue to Double Down on it.

Agreed 100% they need to add in a tutorial mode that teaches the mechanics to make raids more approachable. Nobody wants to go into a raid knowing they’re gonna be that guy that screws everyone up. And a lot of players don’t wanna teach, and I can see why some people just wanna run a raid without it taking all day

Raids are accessible, people just don't bother because "they look hardddd" and their rewards suck, and max power is easily achieved through everything else. CoS is literally just ad clear: the raid. There is one whole mechanic in that raid. SoTP is a simple game of matching words and following a basic direction Raids aren't hard, people are dumb/lazy

I think it eventually changed because of the level advantages of IB in D1 Y1. I remember the last 2 IB before TDB you could grind out level 30 gear for armor pieces you needed to get past 29. It wasn't so much about trophies but Bungie realizing there was a balancing problem in level enabled PvP matches for people that didn't raid. You had max level drops in the raid, IB, and trials only from what I remember. I don't remember if it was TTK or RoI when it got out of control. I know it really got out of hand in D2 with Powerful Gear drops which there are well over 10 sources now between milestones and bounties. There are just too many sources. I honestly don't know how they scale that back now without major outrage.
