It can’t be a failure of people still did it.
That’s the easy concept to grasp.
Was the event a bit boring/grindy? Sure and there are posts talking about the 100 miniboss thing. But they still did it, as did I. So the event didn’t fail, it just could have been better.
For some reason fools need to think it has to be one or the other

It very much can be a failure if people still did it. They offered a reward worth pushing past all it's shortcomings to make players do it. That isn't creating a successful event that people want to partake in, that is creating a reward worth more than wasting all your time. They specifically made this and said that the armor is 2.0 compatible and will give players an advantage going into Shadowkeep. Just from a basic game design standpoint that is forcing people to play a poorly designed event. That is giving people a reward they can't logically refuse if they intend to play seriously going forward. No one would have done the event AT ALL if the armor hadn't of been 2.0 compatible and a high item level. You can try to justify poor design with playrates but the simple fact is that the same exact event without a very heavy obvious advantage going into the next expansion would have yielded entirely different results and that is where you can start to suggest that the event itself was very poorly designed and received.

What they’re trying to say is that the only reason people did this *bad flop* of an event was because of the gear. There was no other way to get it and if there was (or if there wasn’t any 2.0 gear at all), then I’d guarantee that very few people would have done the event.

작성자: Communist Toast 8/13/2019 10:57:31 PMNo I know what they said. That is clear. They only did it for the gear. Isn’t that why most people do anything in games? Very few people do stuff cause it’s “fun”. So why is the point even being said that they did it for gear? I just ran the scourge of the past raid, I did it cause I want the raid exotic (same reason atleast half of my fireteam said that’s why they were there) It doesn’t mean the raid was a flop. The fact is they still did it, a few times even. So it clearly didn’t flop. Edit: people are doing mindbender nightfall farms all last week. You think they were doing that for fun? Or for the gear?

where are you getting the idea that people only play for the gear from? Plenty of people enjoy playing the game, I’m a good example of that. I got a set of gear I wanted, then I played for fun. People want gear, yeah, but people also want events that they find enjoyable too. Your raid example makes no sense. You seem to be under the impression that if you want a raid gun and therefore play the raid for said gun, people are going to say the raid was a flop. The only time people would call it a flop is if the raid is completely boring, tedious, or in general not fun or enjoyable *cough*solstice of heroes*cough*. Your mindbender example holds very little water too, as that’s one example where you have nothing but your word to back up that claim. Unless you’ve taken some sort of poll, then you have zero actual evidence that no one is doing it just for fun.

Literally the third sentence in your reply to me. Read it. Proves your point about what? The event is still garbage, the only good thing was the armor. Just because a landfill has a nice painting in it doesn’t make it any less of a landfill.

Lol do I need to slow it down some? Proves my point that people do stuff for gear (duh). You said that’s why they did it yourself. You want proof that lfg is full of nothing but people after gear? Just go and look lol

작성자: Inf1ni7y Sevyn 8/13/2019 6:53:23 PMI refused to finish the event. I think it's bad enough I wont do it. Period. So Yeah I am going to call it a failure and continue to say it was a horrific failure because it's such a colossal waste of time and tries to force me to do activities that I hate and actively avoid doing. You can try to make it out that it wasn't a failure but the fact is that they created it knowing the activities were too much and not fun but they offered a huge reward and thought it would be ok to waste people's time for it. This event like much of Destiny 2 has been a giant failure from Bungie and they had a chance to change this since leaving Activision and didn't. So they don't get the pass the buck on this one, it's all on them. It gives me very VERY little hope going forward that they will make changes to the game and it's events and play that aren't built around the ideas of "engagement" rates and eververse interactions. They are doing the exact same path that is killing World of Warcraft, over emphasizing on the top 1% of players and largely ignoring the rest while providing increasing monetization.
