Makes sense giving the context of the setting. Since the mother committed a crime by attacking another person, that person acted in self defense which killed an uninvolved innocent (shooting the attacker). Since Alabama considers unborn babies people with full rights (or whatever the correct term is), that means that the mother's crime lead to another person's death.

It still just seems weird.

작성자: SGT Bronson 6/28/2019 2:06:29 PM
I actually agree with this- if a pregant woman commits a crime that leads to her unborn child's premature death (abortion I do not consider a crime), she should be held liable.
I am of the mind that getting shot is punishment enough but I understand that courts don't operate that way. I believe this is how it is in the opposite direction as well. Had she been shot in malice and not in self defense the shooter would be charged with two murders because of the child. Edit: had they both died.

작성자: cRaZyT101 6/28/2019 2:11:24 PMGetting shot is the punishment for starting an altercation, but now we're talking about the death of an unborn child. It's weird because you might support women being able to get an abortion, and in a twisted roundabout way this is a case of abortion (in a sense). But st the end of the day this woman attacked another person, which is a crime. And then she got shot in self defense, and now that act to defend against her crime caused the potential life of another to be lost. Had the person acting in defense be the one charged with the death of the unborn child, we would have cause to be furious. But thats not the case, thankfully.
