Well part of it was also they get money to meet timelines that drove less time to prepare dlcs etc due to activision’s profit driven mentality. If activision wanted the most money they do that by constant things you have to pay for to stay up to date. While I’m sure bungie would rather take longer and get their money by people wanting to play their game. So I do think some part of the destiny hate is driven by activisions model.

If they feel an investment isn't performing to its expectations or see a fast enough return on their money; they will step-in and begin to either suggest or demand developers to find ways to raise revenue. Now, Bungie has made some... questionable choices that were independent of Activision; but to say that publishers just shower developers with money and ask for nothing in return is utterly false. They are a business, furthermore they are a publicly traded business, their goal is to extract as much money from their assets as possible. Why do you think Activision is getting hit by multiple class-action lawsuits from investors after Bungie announced that not only are they breaking off from Activision, but that they also retained the rights to Destiny?

I never said they were heavily involved in game design, only that to say that a publisher is just there to shower developers with money is false. However, publishers can and have influenced game design, if they feel that a design decision would result in a loss of revenue. Sometimes it even leads to designers either quitting or being taken off of a project.
