Does anyone ever explain how they solve these black armory puzzles? I did the emblem puzzles by watching a video, and it made no sense to me. Are some gamers being given the solution on the low by some anonymous bungie employee?

They crowdsourced solutions to the puzzles. It involved cryptography, history, scouring all surfaces of the forges with all the weapon scopes looking for symbols, solving a Japanese map-encoding method, interpreting Norse runes that were encoded with a particular kind of cipher (the name of which escapes me), and making note of specific elements of the history of the Ulfberth swords, among other things.
