Shit, this is so true.
Too many people are using MIDA --> Nerf.
Too many people are using Grasp of Malok --> Nerf.
Aegis of the Reef is essentially the same thing but is super rare --> Leave it be.

The chef figuratively snags your steak away and tells you "now now, try the chicken."
But I prefer the steak...""Yeah... We think that's problematic."
And is PRECISELY that arrogant attitude of "We're Bungie, and we know best" that pisses people off, and has been the source of so many of this game's unresolved problems. Granted. Those problems are getting less severe and fewer in number.... ...but this attitude is PRECISELY what is behind what's going on right now with the game's progression system and the absurdly expensive infusion system. We want steak...and we have a Investment Team stubbornly shoving chicken on us. We want the end game to be one of horizontal progression and min-maxing builds. They want the end-game to be one of throttled vertical progression through a series of ever narrowing CHOKEPOINTS, towards a "trophy" (max power) that the community at-large really doesn't give two SHITS about. But they don't want to hear that....and keep shoving the chicken at us.

That gave me another thought. They do hobble horizontal progression, but they still want us to play with everything. That can't work. You may remember from a previous conversation that I've been absolutely stingy about spending my MCs (I've spent 1 in Y2). Let's say I overcome that barrier and find a weapon I think is worth masterworking and maintaining infused. That'll be a weapon with great perks, of a type I like, and I'll have spent a lot on it. Oh, achievement and meaningfulness! Heck, I'll probably name it. Once I have that great scout rifle (I really like using those) I have committed to, am I more likely to try a new one just because some Dreg dropped one on the ground, or stick with Charlene? I'm also gonna be slightly more annoyed when she gets nerfed than I was when they did it to Mida MT. That achievement and meaningfulness cuts both ways.
