All we said in the scene where we met the Speaker was "What can I do?"
And those few words showed that we had accepted our status as a Guardian and were determined to stand with the Vanguard and fight for humanity's future.
All we said, staring down at the dead Guardian on the moon was "There's nothing left." But in those few words, we showed concern for a fallen comrade.
All we said at the end of the scene where the Exo Stranger contacts us was "We go down". But in those few words, we showed that we were resolved to face whatever lay ahead, no matter how horrible.
All we said at the end of the cutscene where we and the stranger actually meet was "No. Little light." But in those few words, we showed that we retained our capacity for humor, if at another character's expense.
Just a few words, but because of them, our character was an active participant in his/her journey, rather than a seemingly mindless brute, Tor to Ghost's Ferra.

A character doesn’t always need a voice. We can project ourselves inside of the character we are playing instead of the developers making the character for us.

Yes but our characters reactions don't do this. You want a good game with a silent protagonist play dead space 1. Issic for not saying a single word in the game manages to be an imprintable character wile also expressing emotion throughout the game in subtle yet believable ways. Our guardian is a meat sack for our ghost and that's it. D1's simple lines conveyed that you were in fact not a sack of meat controlled by your ghost.
