You know that the core gameplay mechanics is still the same from D1, right? The sprinting and shooting of primary weapons is still the same, everything else has been nerfed and watered down. It's the entire second part of the last sentence that you're missing.

  • Yeah, I can't say I understand what you're talking about. They only really improved graphics now that they aren't hindered by older console specs. D2 feels stiff in that you can't freely flow from weapons fire to melees and grenades and back again because the cooldowns are too long. The ai is even easier than in D1 most of the time, so you're running around hording your super because it feels like a waste to use compared to before. At this point, it feels like any other shooter, except worse, because in other games you can at least pick up grenades off of ammo points and enemies and you can hold more than one at a time. It has gone from being a magical, powerful shooter to a plain vanilla shooter with a lot less variety and choice than D1.

I played a lot of halo years ago but not in recent years. Never played any CoD or gears. I remember when splinter cell first came out. That felt fluid. I try to go back and play d1 and get stomped Every time.

    I should really go back and play D1. Honestly, a lot of success in crucible relies on two major factors- how used to the sensitivity you are using and tactics. High sensitivity is good for returning fire after getting surprised, but lower sensitivity is better for fine point shooting (read as: all the headshots). I prefer low sensitivity, I don't have the control to handle high sensitivity. And if you have map and radar awareness (part of tactics), you shouldn't be getting surprised very often. Where you are pointing at as you go around corners or enter an open area matters. Whether you're running or walking through matters- are you committed to movement or expecting a threat (and if so, from what specific points in the room)? I always rag on my roommate when I watch him play about his aim and all the small things like that. PvP is a developed sense of awareness and snap decision making- just keep at it. D1 definitely rewards single players more for utilizing positions and different weapons at different ranges. D2 is just... teamshoot cuz you can't kill em fast enough before he gets away, even after getting the drop on people and because they're gonna team shoot you as much as they can.
