Well as I've said elsewhere I think snipers need a buff now. Not back to year 2 but a buff to help them a bit. But I don't want every corner to be a death trap again from unflinchable snipers. I'm using fusions and I swap primary regularly. Have you tried specing your subclass for more close range utility to offset your sniper? And your movement speed is what gets you in close for a shotgun. Same as before. You just can't b-line to do it.
I see plenty of primary diversity. Lots of different pulses autos and scouts. Limited handcannons but I've posted about why their blanket nerfs suck for that hurting two archetypes of the 3. There is also always icebreaker if you want to be constantly covering all ranges.
The playstyle is there but it's more limited. You can get caught running rock by someone speced for paper easily. I find that interesting. Others find it frustrating. But I expected destiny to have tradeoffs not make classes so similar they always play the same.

You did have no land for that and I think they went too far with its nerf. The problem with aggressive sniping is what made it possible was making it unbeatable no matter your sniper style. They simply absorbed damage with little consequence and had such sticky aim you could abuse it horribly. But this is also a problem with a severe lack of content. If you know Khakis he does fan made exotics. So many options could open up with them. Including aggressive sniping besides no land side arm. This is the biggest problem. Bungie has never really committed to diverse loadouts. They keep things so similar there is little difference and are terrible at balancing the exotics that are supposed to help you branch out. Like I've said bungie is far from perfect and many problems compound others. But the basic framework of power weapons for special is a platform I like far more than constant availability with no risk. 6v6 there is plenty of ammo. 3v3 not so much. And there is the biggest problem now. Especially trials. That whole game mode has been a shitshow from start to finish.
