Hmm idk, their are some side arms that'll Kill you faster than a machine gun. Just because they all have similar stats doesn't mean that they work the same. Shotties are fine. I someone is determined to shotgun you, not much you can do. Cut all shotgun range down to 1 and I guarantee you there will still be people who like and kill you with the boom sticks, myself included.
Fusion do need a buff though. Mostly to velocity.

I love shotties too but the only archetype that currently matters is the high impact/low rate of fire. I think high rate of fire shotguns are great and high impact shotguns couple really well with melees. So i though my idea could really boost shotgun diversity by giving two shot kill shotguns or one shot and melee kills.

After I got the dry rot 32 I became in love with those archetypes. New monarchy sells a year two version that has better range. I uses a lot of ammo, but my god it rakes people. I was being chased by a hammer on banner fall, he came into the room and after hovering up in the ceiling I fell on him with the last words shotgun brother. Basically he died very very fast.
