I want a gun that when I first get it, might not be that great... but there might be something about it that appeals to me... the look, the way it handles, whatever it might be. So I keep it and use it, and it gains some experience and grows into something better than what it was... not just some pre-determined perks that unlock, but something that really... evolves with me. So I guide it. I disassemble a hundred Red Deaths, studying their mechanisms, to learn the secret of health recovery from kills. Then I battle my way through some epic battles, and finally track down a reclusive gunsmith way out in the wild who says he will actually put that modification on my gun... for a price.... First, he needs the materials... then, the gun needs to be ready, it isn't powerful enough yet. Finally, he wants a payment. So I quest for materials, I strengthen my weapon by getting kills with it. I have to kill a lot of different types of enemies; powerful enemies, so it knows what power is before it learns how to steal it. One day, I return with all that is required. I part with the materials, and I render payment. I leave my gun with him, and will return when he is finished. Sometime later, I return for my weapon. It's a little different; more powerful... it feels... wiser. I kill with it. It steals health and gives that health to me, but it isn't good at it yet. It doesn't do it everytime, and when it does, it only fills me a third of the way... but I work with it, and it learns. Until one day, finally, all my work has paid off... and it has mastered, through my guidance, it's skill. Kills with this weapon immediately regenerate health. Yes. And now I will embark on another mission, to make this weapon even more powerful... to shape it one step closer to my perfect companion in battle. And after ten years, it's a beast. I have named it, I have guided it's growth, and it is mine and mine alone. It has become it's own legend, all from those humble beginnings. In answer to the OP's question... yes. I want guns that will last ten years.
