People keep asking the question as though it is powerful or thought provoking.
The answer is simple. Yes.
If we like a certain legendary, it resonates with us, it feels right to us, and we've made it our own, as a part of our guardian, as a part of our character, and as a part of our destiny, why would we want to abandon that?
Guns come and go, sure, but the ones we really like stick around just as much as the ones that do the work. How many of you still carry a Stranger's Rifle for keepsake? How about your old Khvostov? Bet that little beaut still has a home in quite a few of your vaults, despite how little use it may see?
The point is, Destiny is just as much a role playing game as it is a shooter. In role playing games, you play roles, to play roles, you invest in your character and immerse yourself in their lifestyle and world environment.
It's really hard to play a role, if your character's tried and true, sweat and steel, big 'ol hip iron, is gonna be rendered effectively useless to the point of being forced to utilize new weaponry.
It's understandable if our gear is gonna be put on the shelf for a while, we get that, there's new toys to try and you want us to enjoy the fruits of your labor rather than shun it away in favor of our precious blasters, but you have to realize at some point down the road, we're gonna want to nostalgia, we're gonna wanna meet back up with old friends, and those dusty guns in our vaults are gonna want to breath fresh fire, hot with velocity, once more into the skulls of enemies not keen to take them.
And when that times comes, we should hope the options are in place for us to rekindle the light in our boomsticks, and make some noise with them once more, rather than leave them on the shelves to be reminders of what we've lost.
Edit: Since so many seem to be assuming I'm just another Fate Bringer fanboy giving out free tears, let me just put that to rest and say I don't even have a Fatebringer, nor do I want one, nor do I even use or like Handcannons.
If it must be stated, my personal favorite treasured weapon I wish I could bring with me to year 2 and have it maintain it's stats, is just Jolder's Hammer. Nothing super special, nothing from a raid, nothing OP. Just my trusty ol' warhorse, Jolder's Hammer.
Edit 2: Lot of people chiming in to say 'no' or 'I disagree' or 'No we don't'. And that's fine. We're trending though. So for all your claims that I am alone in my plight, just count. On your fingers if you must. This is not some drop in the bucket minority whining about a petty concern. This is the culmination of a year's worth of work and effort being reduced to dust. And we aren't happy about it.
Edit 3: Thank you so much for the support, replies, and overall solidarity in standing with me on this issue. We may not see the results we are after, we may not even change anyone's minds, but if nothing else, we will be heard.

I think many are missing the bigger picture. Sure, we have weapons we love. But in 2 years time, if you're still using fatebringer, what does that say to the quality of future weapons?
I'm not saying its right or fair to force the new ones on us.
I keep saying that if they make good weapons then people will naturally gravitate to try them out. I'd love to use Hakke and Suros weapons (Omolon looks too weird for my tastes) but the current track record is kinda poor on bungie's part. The vanilla weapons are just appealing to those that have them and used them. What other handcannons have firefly? None. How many auto rifles have decent impact? A handful out of the majority of year 1.The other VoG guns all have pretty good rolls on perks as well. People have also been using them longer and have a good feel for them. The audacity during one of the interviews that Deej said that year 2's would see someone using a fatebringer and ask where we got it. "We got this "inferior" weapon from a raid that you have absolutely no reason to go do now because we are being presented with "better" weapons." Do they expect a year 2 to actually go out and play the Year 1 raids/PoE. You just made/declared them basically obsolete. Also finally if I wish to use year 1 weapons my entire destiny career than that is my choice. I don't see how it impacts others that wish to leave them behind in fact those same people would have probably kept using those weapons until Bungie decided to leave them behind. Or they didn't have them to begin with.

2 답변People don't ask it to be thought provoking. It's actually quite the opposite. It's a rhetorical question since it's boring and lame to imagine somebody wanting to use the same gun for another year and possibly beyond.

2 답변Throughout the existence of humanity we have evolved, grown, and shaped ourselves. We started out unknowing of power that we were capable of. We fought with spears and bows, swords and shields. Betra, what a beautiful bow she was. I loved using her any chance i got. I used her for so long until......until, the advancement of defenses became a thing. How could we surpass such defenses with our current weapons? They were powerless. We had to create stronger weapons to fight stronger defenses. I had to give up Betra and resort to using the bitter wrath of the ironing call. A sword is what they called it. It didnt have the same feel as Betra, but it was my only way to fight back. Years went by even more and so did technology. Those defenses became even harder plated objects that not even a sword would beat. Again, we had to upgrade. Life became more modern.....and so the invention of guns came. This was a completely new feel from the sword i once wielded, or the mighty bow i loved for so long. Its a shame i had to rid of my most dearest objects if i wanted to continue fighting without feeling futile. I think you get the point....

The new guns will be less powerful most likely. Bungie sees how quickly you can melt bosses with guns like Gjallarhorn and Black Hammer. This reduces playtime and they don't want that, so they remove perks like hammerforged and firefly, and add less effective options.

Agreed. I still have my first legendary pulse rifle and scout rifle, and have ascended them to use every now and then for fun. They felt so nice to be able to use again after 6-8 months of non-use, that they have become my go to weapons. It would be nice if the reason to switch to other weapons was because "they do cool things you like better" and not "your old favorites are being left on the garbage pile because we made older weapons too OP and want you to try new things". Half the enjoyment of being in this game for a long period of time is the equipment you've collected. The only equipment that matters on a day-to-day basis are armor and weapons.

작성자: DJDeath24 8/9/2015 3:06:50 PMYou know how some of the exotics had cool stories of how they came to be? Like thorn for instance. It would be awesome if there was an exotic bounty in which you chose which weapon to use for it and take on a series of increasingly challenging quests and the end result is a unique exotic weapon you created as your very own. It would take any existing non exotic gun and upgrade it to exotic status by allowing you to choose from a unique pool of perks which is then added to its already existing ones. That way people who love fatebringer or the strangers rifle could bring those weapons into future content unhindered by attack rating caps.

4 답변They are doing this ebcause every dlc they plan to make new legendaries, and no matter how good they are, people will use VoC, FB, IB, BH, Gally/HoC. They want you to evolve your loadouts, which sounds fun so i promote this change.

1 답변it's funny that they go and create weapons that look like "old weapons" (old in terms of when destiny is supposed to take place), create legends about guns and mythology about them but then say, we only wanted you to use this for one expansion..... idiots.

4 답변I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm relatively new to gaming, and Destiny is the first and only MMO I've ever played. The first raid I ever took part in? VOG. First piece of "raid gear" I ever got? Hezen Vengeance dropped for me off the Templar, followed by Epilogue off Atheon. I love those two guns. They were the first things I ever got from a raid, whenever solar or void burn pop up, they are what I reach for, and so far, Destiny has let me just keep leveling them so they stay powerful. Before House of Wolves and Etheric light came out, they sat in my vault and reminded me of the triumph, the yelling over the mics when we felled one of the gorgons in the laberinth. When Atheon shattered into a million pieces. When I found out I could get them back on top of the damage cap, I was thrilled, and raced through POE to get the Etheric light I needed. So I hope Destiny keeps letting us keep our old guns. At least, for the sentimental n00bs like me.
