First off comparing blink to eras of nerfs of guns? They don't follow each other. Blink has not changed.
Not that I disagree there have been those eras of reign of gun dominance. Those have been true. Vex Nerf, pocket infinity Nerf, AR Nerf and it looks like next hand canons Nerf next.
Reforging has just allowed people get guns into ways they like them faster than hoping for RNG gods give it to them.
Countering blink I don't disagree either. Sensitivity is the key.
This is where I disagree on the blink issue, and let me preface this with do I think Bungie will do anything about it, No I do not. Because this is the Holy GRAIL of top PVP player's! I know some and this is their baby.
They talk about balance not all characters have blink. So when bungie says balance it is BS. Most of the top PVP player's use Blink! Why? This has nothing to do with what guns you have or Era of nerfs.
I can get close to you before you can get a shot off. No more complicated than that. Some of the highly skilled blinkers knows the camera angle change I could be at you in a blink, pun intended. For a shotgun punch combo, melee only if shields are down, or shotgun shot. Oh by the way most of these blinkers hate the thorn because it keeps there shields down longer, making them more vulnerable.
Here's where the good blinkers make a living. Let say I see some one I get a grenade on them. Shields are down, they hide behind a cover you can jump over. I could blink above them take a shot. Blink over them hit the ground and slide shotgun to them or blink slide around the baracade.
To me OP part is how blink after hitting the ground I can slide the opposite direction I came from. So literally I can slide to the direction I came frome or any degree change of that. If I can do that consistently I have a huge advantage over my opponent.
I don't care about guns, this is the way blink can be used to get you close to your opponent before they know it and win.
Bungie and people talk about balance. But when one class does not have it how is that balance?
Now before anybody says get good or just use that class. I have 1 of each character, and I use blink at times and have done what I described.
My disagreement with your post has deal with comparing gun eras to blink. That to me doesn't follow.
Whether blink is a problem in person pvp or not partly depends on how you define balance. If define it as all classes have the ability to use it? No it is not.
In some people's skill set to use it to get up close to someone it can be Big advantage.
Is it a problem? If problem and balance if the top people use it the most to non blink set ups. Which they show these graphs of thorn in iron banner to not. How about a graph of blink to not? Since that is how they are defining balance. It would be interesting to see those graphs and should blink be nerfed.

Personally I think that attributing balance to the prospect of being able to counter every move is a bit far fetched. If every sub-class was able to counter the moves of each of their counter parts, then that is not so much balance as it is a stalemate. This might just be an attitude held by me alone, but if someone blinks across the map just to blink-shotgun me, I'll hold my hands up and say GG. Similarly if I die from a shoulder charge, sticky grenade or even thorn/final round. This probably is the reason why I sport such a humble K/D. Even so I think that there are other ways to handle blink without resorting to nerf, or resorting to Bungie in general. I completely agree with the OP that weapon reforging simply made a convenient jump ability a hell of a lot more accessible, and would be inclined to agree that reforging could be the root of the problem. But blink is not all that easy to use and has a habit of failing you as often as it does save your life or grant you a questionable kill. I think getting rid of its ability to dodge sticky grenades and direct rocket launcher hits is fair (was never so lucky as to experience either myself) and should be brought in ASAP. And if you made it this far then credit to you.

OP's point is quite valid in explaining that blink itself is not the problem. It's the current PVP environment which allows blink (and shotgunning) to be a severe problem. I agree that we should all wait to see how 2.0 changes affect the feasibility of blink/shotgunning. My hope is that it fixes this plague. A side note: I was having a blast in PVP with Suros last night. Had an 18-0 skirmish match with an unleveled Suros Regime. Lol.

Then I really don't get your post. If I'm next to you, by blink I can be using a blue gun, I can get to you fast that some classes don't have. It don't matter about the guns if reforged or not. I know guys doing this blink to you before you see them, way before reforging. To blame reforging to the calls to change blink. Sorry they don't follow.

I think his point of comparing the gun eras was how much easier it is to use blink now than it used to be. The best of the best might have always used it, but a lot more of the average players use it now because shotguns have so much range.
