You have to remember that:
1.) This is not the same Bungie that we had during Halo. Many of the team left when they split from Microsoft, and more split here and there. I heard a rumor that 5 quit because Activision was getting in the way of development. Their lead story writer quit. They even fired Marty. The old Bungie would NEVER have fired Marty.
2.) This community is different. It's in many ways much more hostile than before. You have to admit, if Sony hadn't paid for marketing rights and timed exclusives this community would be MUCH better off. There's constant arguments between PS players and Xbox players. Half of the community is treated like they're better, and half isn't. That will always be the parasite that stops Destiny from becoming even better.
It's sad that because I chose Xbox I have had to endure being told that the ultimate destiny experience is on the console I didn't choose. It sucks that most streamers play on PlayStation and I don't have a chance to play with them or be involved more.
If Bungie had a playlist where they could play with fans on Bungie Day, I have no doubt that it would most likely only be on PlayStation.
TL;DR Bungie is not what it used to be. It's a different studio with a different community, and that community is in many ways more hostile. They can't be as close anymore with us because of this, which sucks.

Almost all AAA games have exclusivity on one console, PS players get screwed over in fifa, cod(not anymore) etc. You can't blame bungie or Activision for it, Microsoft chose not to pay, the only one here to blame is Microsoft.
