Complete the story. Do your daily bounties, awesome for leveling weapons, armor, and straight leveling your level. After level 20 go and do the Strike Playlist. Equip the better items (weapons and armor) as you receive them. Level the armor to get higher light level, when you are higher light level do the harder strikes. Strike Playlist is key to getting better stuff.
