2004 - 2007: Way fewer people. I'd say somewhere around 50 active members before 2006. Everyone was cynical as hell and spent most of their time trying to beat each other in debates (real debates. not the "lol u mad bro?" stuff people do today). Trolling mostly consisted of people trying to hold the most ridiculous debates possible. But actually try to win them. Just as much drama, and flame wars, and shit posting. But there was a very strong sense of community. I don't know if it was the smaller size or what, but our members took a very strong sense of pride being members here. "Flood Vs The World" was a very common belief and even people who hated each other would team up on people who weren't seen as "on of us". Everyone was a dick to new members and acted like it was some sort of initiation process to become "flood". It made people intimidated to join in and most of the members absolutely loved that. But again.. the system bread a lot of unity within the community. 2008 - 2010: We get our first wave of new members since H2 dropped. A good portion of the original Flood crowd decides to leave the site and form their own community called "new flood". This leaves lots of open space for the H3 crowd to come in and start making the next generation of the flood. This generation is quite a bit more rowdy than the last. Breaking the rules becomes a status symbol and the rise of alts begins. This carries on until just before the launch of Reach, when once again, a good portion of the members forms an offsite called Flood V2. This once again leaves a vacancy for the Reach people to come in and form yet another generation of Flood. 2011 - 2013: Things get interesting around the flood again. Increased rules and carpet bans make private groups blow up. Lots of them spring up around this time. Also around this time, a few notable members create a resurgence in debating each other (Harlow vs Naked Noob was always entertaining to watch). Which was awesome. Group drama begins filling the flood with people taking sides on the various groups at war or whatever. By this time, most everyone runs around beating their chest about being "floodian" but never shows one another even the slightest respect or acts like a community in any way. It's around this time I personally feel we lost all sense of community. 2014 - present: Site changes. More people leave. The flood turns into just another offtopic message board with the added charm of having practically no rules. And here we are...

Meh. Debatable. Most people always seemed to enjoy being dicks to each other. But for a while a lot of people took pride in being part of this place. And we did some pretty cool stuff as a group that I believe would never happen with our current members. Not sure if people were loyal to the community, or just the "floodian" name. Considering how quickly most people ran off as soon as they didn't like something.. I assume the latter.
