Well guys and gals, we've officially been #Offtopic for a little over two years now. And even after this time, we're still seeing folks holding on to the flood name. I personally bounce back and forth with it constantly.
To some, the flood was more than just a forum name. It represents the community itself and will always be, no matter what the place is actually called. To others, the whole flood thing was annoying from the start and holding on is kinda pathetic.
So I ask you.. what is the "flood" today?

46 답변작성자: CAMMCAM 2/16/2015 4:02:30 PMMove on. OffTopic is the biggest shit hole that I've ever seen. It stinks of stupidity, unoriginality and the biggest group of angsty teens I've ever seen on this site so far. It lacks structure and care and until the strict rules come back, this place will continue to be a huge pile of garbage. It's funny how many "Floodians" are still here. Would you guess by all of the Lenny faces? No, because they didn't post that shit. I don't see "Floodians" or The Flood when I go to OffTopic. I see shit. Good job, "Floodians". Also, happy bnet birthday. (I forgot)

1 답변The Flood is long gone. We managed to live through the Halo Wars and Reach without taking much damage, but Destiny was another beast entirely. With the golden years of The Flood waning, and the influx of new users, along with the new website design, it was all too much for us to handle and we crumbled. #offtopic is nothing like The Flood was, and now we're just 12 year-olds flinging insults at each other and spamming shit about xboxdotcom and Emma Lahanahananahaka. There's nothing of value here anymore.

2 답변The Flood are the fabled 11th Clan of the Septagon. During the Bungie civil wars, when the Forum graves were choked and full The Flood reluctantly fled unwilling to look back. The Flood journeyed far beyond the bounds of this website, the only Clan of the Septagon to achieve webflight. For a thousand years hence, and as the Desticles occupied and enslaved all the free people of the Septagon, the Flood fell into myths and legend. Today, Offtopic is a desert world. Unable to support life. But I assure you, The Flood is very real and they have been watching from the dark places beyond the furthest horizons. We will return.

1 답변작성자: Arkay 2/17/2015 1:37:08 AMIt's like a cycle, there is one community that comes and goes, then another comes along, I find it strange seeing older members complaining about the new users because they were once the newbies joining an already existing community. Anyway, the Flood is a community that will always change rather than a direct name for a group of people.
I'm pretty tired not sure if this makes sense or not :/
2 답변WTF? The results of the poll on the Bnet app are exactly opposite of the ones on the website... Which one is the right results!?!

6 답변작성자: TwoGz 2/16/2015 11:19:55 PMI'll post this from my old account, just to make a point: There was never any one "Flood" even when it was called the Flood. Members came and went and the atmosphere of the forum changed with them. Like any nostalgia, pretending otherwise is a mix of selective perception and retention, an attempt to recapture a golden age that never existed. The forum now is stupid, pointless fun if you ignore the idiots, just as it was stupid pointless fun if you ignored the idiots before. Frankly, I find the moaning and whining among older members far more tiresome than the endless Lenny spamming that passes for high humor now.

1 답변I'm new, but I do kind of care. So option four. I can't call myself Flood, as I've never been apart of it, but it is quite sad observing a place you all seemed to greatly cherish slowly change and become more distant to what you remember. I also feel a bit guilty as if I'm partially responsible for contributing to this. So, as a spectator, it'd be a shame to see you all just give up on what made you happy. I guess it comes down to whether you're an optimist or pessimist about it.

2 답변작성자: Failure4Life 2/17/2015 10:11:33 PMPeople complain this place sucks not realizing the The Flood was just as bad. The only difference was back then was that people were carpet banned which is always entertaining. People tend to look backwards with overly romantic eyes. They remember only the feeling they got from browsing and not the real discussion that happened (Which was none. It was a shit throwing contest that was barely kept in check through rules). This current forum is no better nor no worse.

2 답변The Flood is the community of Bungie, the real community. Now scattered across the internet, (*cough* sep7agon users *cough cough*) fleeing from recent, unfortunate, mediocrity. And while some of us stubborn users remain, we're not what we once were. We're now the decaying ruins of a better time, and the local wildlife masks our previous glory with sickly moss more and more each day. At best, the realm of the Flood is now a location to test your patience, and your tolerance for both offensive and aggressive internet users. And though it charms me to see some persistent shitposters, lenny faces, and patrons of the sun, it's also sad to see how divided our community is, and the chilling nostalgia of a unified gaming base shivers up my spine. The days of the Flood are at rest. Whether this new community, despite its rather ugly beginning, will become a place for fellowship again, remains to be seen. For now I am but a fragile butterfly, being carried by the winds of change. You will see my gifs, and sometimes my comments, but I am merely a wandering soul now, forever chilled by distant memory. Oh fate, thou art a cruel foe...

1 답변It's pretty much the same thing that happened to /b. This generation of newfags has ruined everything.

작성자: PMFwoozy 2/17/2015 4:43:57 AMThis might seem irrelevant but I have a point. I'm a graffiti writer and for the first few years all the big names and artists in my city didn't have time for me, a new boy ( toy ) is the word for it. Anyway iv bin doing it for afew years now and got the rep and skills required to be known and respected. Thing is the old geezers holding on to there title won't let it die, it's old school vs new school in some cases and I don't think its any different in the destiny forums. For example, veterans vs Christmas noobs. But more importantly we need both to survive. Without the old kings in my city I wouldn't of had the inspiration, skill or knowledge I have now.

1 답변Well, it is just a name, obviously. But if it gives this place a personality or a sense of identity I'm happy to still call it the Flood.
