I do feel the special weapons are used more and more as primaries. Myself, I haven't been blessed with a good autorifle with low RoF/high damage like some, or Mythoclast or Timepiece, so I usually run my Fatebringer as a secondary and either the old Hide & Seek(stock) or Praetorian Foil as my primary. Their both on the higher-skill side of their type, with H&S requiring ADS to work and PF having a long charge time plus huge recoil, but I like them nonetheless. Trust me, I feel your pain against exotic specials... namely Invective(AA12) and Plan C(I had it first week, loved it, but now with everyone using it... I feel your pain now XD)

Well, if they win doing that, it's obviously a good strategy.

See you are one these players who depend on that to feel like you are a beast in games, and the super is just a panic button for you, when you are getting handle you panic button. You like all that cuz you like easy gamming you spray and pray.
