It felt like it was trying a bit too hard to feel more sci-fi like to live up to it's competitors like Star Wars and Mass Effect and etc.
I loved the sense of mystery and unknown scale of the universe and its predecessors in the original Bungie Halos. You only knew a little bit about the forerunners, but you could explore their artifacts they left behind. Fully fleshing out the forerunners took away that feeling for me and I believe that's one of the reasons why Halo 4 isn't as appealing to me.

Exploring forge world in Reach is especially awesome and interesting, don't you agree?
Campaign wise. I'm saying all this introduction to more lore just made it seem like they focused to much on the little sci-fi details that attempted to immerse you rather than the maps for multiplayer as well.

In my opinion, some of the majestic maps are really cool though, they provide some backstory I guess.
