1st let me be clear, I don't trust these metrics...
Amongst the pools of player data it does access, it's limited and underreported by as much as 30%.
This is from the same source you use but have obfuscated per your bias,
[i]'Destiny 2 Player Count - Google Data

jhermannITJにより編集済み: 2/17/2026 6:49:46 AMIn concert with google trends by the same person posting the live numbers. Literally on the same dedicated site, you just need to scroll down. Destiny 2 You can't say half the information they think is credible isn't. Btw, the OP said they talked to the creator of the channel and site. They said they were credible. These numbers have a margin of error of almost 30% for the regions tracked.... And the API doesn't track everyone. 😇👍💠

Steam alone is 8k rn. Console is a different story, but I cant imagine its any more than 20k per console brand. Probably like 40k total rn across the board. 200k does not sound remotely accurate when steam charts are that low

jhermannITJにより編集済み: 2/18/2026 11:10:35 PMConcurrence' means... the "same" players over an established period of time in respect to player population. In Valves case 48 hrs. You can have 72 hr... You can have weekly.... Thus, how many players log in every day of the week. Total numbers can be much higher and seem to be, after today who knows... but generally during content droughts concurrence suffers. And it seems to be a long one. Some of the things I predicted are coming, but I think people would like a more defined outlook. Maybe they're letting the fires burn out, maybe the big plans don't happen? Maybe Sony is investing, but in the time it will take... decided to go dark? Maybe Sony decided that it's not worth it... the community and brand is not salvageable? If the tweet is the comms... and the twid doesn't expand any further... Well, I'm excited for Marathon. Nothing was ever going to be good enough for this poisoned community. 😇👍💠

Rockjawにより編集済み: 2/18/2026 11:27:55 PMhttps://steamdb.com/charts/ Here you go. I'm honestly glad your excited for Marathon. I'll give it a try and see how it goes. But in regards to the charts, you have it wrong. Edit: head in the sand response I suppose. I'll just quote it here in hopes you see it. Not expecting a response honestly. Steam Statistics FAQ What is concurrent players? Concurrent players refers to the number of people playing a game at the same time. This includes both in-game players and those at the main menu or loading screens. When is Steam most active? Steam typically sees peak activity on weekends and during evening hours (based on US and European time zones). Major game releases and Steam sales also cause significant spikes. How accurate are player counts? Our statistics are based on Steam's public API data, which provides accurate real-time player counts for most games. Some games may have slight delays in reporting.

jhermannITJにより編集済み: 2/19/2026 12:46:33 AMHere you go,
'Concurrence' means... the "same" players over an established period of time in respect to player population.
So, exactly what I said? Destiny 2's API does not give live numbers... Valve extrapolates based on trends or data point averages in the API. Here's another source: https://winrate.tools/destiny-player-count In the last 30 days 4.7 million people have logged in. Don't let yourself get hustled Guardian. And I'm not saying things are good. But that's a pretty ****in' generic FAQ description that doesn't really specify their exact calculations. Why? It varies from game to game. It's just the truth. If you research HOW exactly... they calculate, no one knows the specifics beyond shared API heuristics extrapolated trends that define those estimates. If a game provides live numbers, they can track it. Otherwise, it's their best guess.

I have. The api gives character state as well as manifest. And this isn't me saying numbers are good or bad, this is me showing you the definition. Because you repeatedly told me I was wrong, while simultaneously making up your own definition and stating it as a fact. I asked you a few times to show me where you got your metric from where it shows what concurrent means, and you still havent provided one. Yet you still insist im wrong whe I do provide you with the information, right from the horses mouth.
-
You are wrong. Completely wrong. The FAQ says EXACTLY what I said. More generically without specifics. I'm telling you what those numbers represent given what Bungie shares via their API access. 😇👍💠 Again, if you search this topic... you'll find that no one knows the methods or calculations Valve uses beyond heuristic API data that's made available. And Bungie doesn't give live numbers.
-
You keep saying I'm wrong, can you show me where it says that concurrent means the same people playing over a 48 hour period? And the link i posted is not saying what you claim concurrent means. It actually couldn't be farther from what you think the word concurrent means.
-
Im sure I could find a bunch of sites to try and calidate what I'm saying also. Instead I went with SteamDB since it was the topic of our discussion. And no. You said concurrent means the same players over a given time frame. That is not what it means. Concurrent players has one definition, and that definition is in the link I gave you. It is the current simultaneous playing at any given moment on steam, and its very accurate.

jhermannITJにより編集済み: 2/19/2026 12:45:58 AMI'm still on topic, and per the edit... I was not finished. 😜 That site also covers: Wasted time on Destiny. A trusted source for almost a decade tracking player activity before Valve. And I'm NOT MAKING topics every day trying to manipulate people, lol. Because... here's a shocker 🤯, their metrics are estimates too. BECAUSE... THE API DOES NOT PROVIDE LIVE NUMBERS. Do you think mocking me, bothers me? Double spaced is a fairly common standard. I know it annoys you. That's not why I do it. It's for aiding the comprehension for those that need it. Deny the truth... I don't give a ****. Mock me... I don't give a ****. Let yourself be manipulated and stew in your disdain over a video game? I don't give a ****. Still going to call out the BS. Kick rocks, if you don't like it. 😇👍💠 https://winrate.tools/destiny-player-count

I don't think you know why we're arguing. I'll explain it again, if needed I can quote your comment to make it easier. I explained that you didn't understand what concurrent really means on that chart. You said "nope, you're wrong, sry. Concurrent means the same people playing over a 48 hour period." That's not what concurrent means. Plain and simple. You're trying to make this about how you or I feel about the player counts. Thats not what we're arguing about. Im letting you know it's not cool to tell someone they are wrong about something repeatedly, while avoiding the evidence presented. Thats all. Normal thing would be to say "yea, guess I didn't know what concurrent meant." But, you're just gonna keep making it about something else. Fine. Thank god definitions are factual things. No matter how you feel about it, concurrent will always mean the same thing.
