The old gear actually has more balanced stat distribution. There is nothing stopping you from using it. If it’s the look of the armor that you like then transmit it. In what other MMO/Grinding game do you play that you still use the same gear from 3 or 4 years ago? You say something more memorable or with more identity. First of all, they do have identity. The new gear is the first gear that has set bonuses. That giving it an identity. Now it could be argued that it’s not the greatest. Secondly, the old gear that you are upset and c calling obsolete, tell me what specifically makes that gear memorable or with more of an identity? What set bonuses do they have? What perks or benefits do they have? What is better about their stats? We all have our complaints and frustrations about Bungie, but it sounds like you are hating just to hate or your upset that you have to grind all over again. If the grind is the problem then perhaps you shouldn’t play this style of game. That’s part of the very nature of this game. If the grind bothers you then call of duty may be more your speed.

How many times they recycled Hung Jury? Or that Beloved/Adored nonsense where one is basically the old weapon but wrapped in cloth? You're not being punished by using old gear and not the new gear. You're just not receiving the rewards. There is a difference. You can still do all the content using your old gear, you're just not receiving the bonus damage and damage reduction by using your old gear. Thats not punishing you, its just not rewarding you. You cant really compare Warframe and Destiny 2 as they are different games. Sure, they share some of the same features but they are not the same style game from a foundational level. One could argue that you are being punished by using your old warframe from 10 years ago just the same as the argument could be made that youre not being rewarded for using the newer warframes. Again, Warframe and Destiny are two very different games and can not be adequately compared in the same way. The bottom line is that if you want to continue using your old armor in the new expansions then there really is no motivation for bungie to ever release new armor or gear in the new expansions if you are just going to keep going back and using the old gear. Honestly the new system has everything you asked for, "identity" "uniqueness" etc... its just not to YOUR liking. Not to YOUR preference. I am mature enough to acknowledge and understand that bungie cant possible create gear to EVERYONE's liking. That would be impossible. Lets say I want them to have an armor with a set bonus of unlimited machine gun ammo and no having to reload machine guns. You might absolutely hate that solely because YOU dont like to use heavy machine guns. Just like a set bonus or your idea of the armor system, everyone else might hate. Do I think the armor bonuses are perfect? No. They have their problems and I think they could be better, but you have to understand that this is the first step bungie has made towards changing the system in this way. They (hopefully) will learn what works and what doesnt work, whats good and not good, what people like and what people dont like. Honestly, I would hate to develop a game for people like you with your mindset. No offense of course, but it honestly feels like there is just no pleasing you. It feels like if bungie delivered EXACTLY what you want, then you could come back and complain that it isnt good enough and you would keep moving the goal posts. How many years have you been using the gear that you are so upset that you are considering "obsolete"? I'd be willing to bet that its several years old. You really want to keep using that same gear 20 years from now? Again, the bottom bottom line is, if you prefer to just use the same ol' gear then there is really no reason or motivation for bungie to add new gear.

Unlimited machine gun ammo is not possible but not having to reload? You don't make them switch by putting hindrances, make it interesting to switch and it's their job to see what makes people use the same gears and take notes from it And make sure they don't do the exact opposite

It’s just done in a different way now. Instead of having to specifically target the powerful/pinnacle missions then waiting for the weekly reset to do it again, you now have a random chance to receive drops that are an upgrade. So technically with the new system you can actually reach power cap sooner if you put in the time. Instead of completing the few pinnacle missions and waiting for weekly reset, you can continue to farm for upgrades now. Why is it that in edge of fate, you can reach 450 power in a week or two if you play enough and get lucky enough. Previously you couldn’t reach power cap in a week or two because you were restricted by having to wait for the weekly reset. Destiny 2 isn’t a “different” game now. The way in which you go about things is a little different. To call it a “different” game is just ridiculous. You can still do weekly missions, all the same activities, locations, etc… so please explain how it’s a completely different game as you claim? Btw, what’s the real benefit to reaching 450? The only thing 450 power offers is guaranteed tier 5 loot from keplar. There’s really no other benefit. Also tier 5 isn’t really significantly better than tier 4. So it’s not like Bungie is making it a requirement to get to 450 power. They aren’t forcing you to do the grind. You can do all the content in the game with 300-400 power except for ultimate difficulty.
