Its not even the currency, diablo has tons of currencies used for upgrading . The real issue is how exorbitant the amount is when you jump up even 5 or six levels and how few items we get.
In other rpg style games you get mats for killing ads, bosses, looting, mining/gathering, breaking down armor . Bungie seems absolutely terrified to give us more rewarding activities. We need more gear to drop, mats, and currency.

Had 200k at one point. Was leveling all my characters at roughly the same pace, maybe a 10 level difference at most. I dipped down to 500. Got back up to around 50k . Went to work on some builds, now I've been floating around 2k and I'm deleting decent armor just to progress in power. I don't think k I've ever been punished for experimenting and trying new builds. On top of the fact we don't get back any of our invested mats when we occasionally replace gear. It's punishing on a level that's borderline sadistic.
