Same engine... that's my point.
No more excuses.
That's what you're referencing.
Bungie previously said the Tiger Engine was NOT capable.
Was not.
It IS now.
And the reason, I wager they never tried to implement robust counter mechanics for CC and abilities, is because of the P2P networking and the inconsistency of it.
Marathon has a counter system for abilities, seemingly robust... I'm paraphrasing what Cross said,
["There was never a situation where I felt I couldn't counter an ability in some way"].
Marathon will have dedicated servers.
No more excuses.
Or just sunset PvP in Destiny 2.
Because morale and player sentiment will continue to decline if not.
Bungie has 2 choices...
Give D2 the basic tech Marathon will have.
Or kill PvP.

My friend, I'm being as forthcoming as I can when I say that nothing, NOTHING, will improve the morale in this place. Honestly, when I come to this forum I feel like I'm doomscrolling and I genuinely believe that the blame can't all be placed on the game. This is a sentiment that I've held for some time. More than a few people here seem incapable of feeling anything beyond disdain for Destiny, Bungie, or anyone else. It's troubling, but it also appears to be a societal issue that's spreading. Do I think dedicated servers for the game are a great idea? Absolutely, without question. Do I think it would improve the miasma this place has become? Not hardly.

J I absolutely cant stand what Bungie has become. i used to have so much hope but in the end its was all smoke and mirrors to make as much as they could investing as little as possible not giving a damn how frustrated the players have become They could have hired a team to rewrite the code for entire game 10x's over to give their extremely loyal players base the experience they have paid for and deserve. But the ones making the Big choices at bungie will never care about anything other than making a quick but with a hollow apology down the road.

You're placing the blame for everything on Bungie, whether it's only at the top or anywhere on down the chain. To an extent, this is completely justified; Bungie can carry much of the responsibility. However, what also needs to happen is the players must accept their role in what Destiny has become. If the developers were left to develop the game while the players played it (right there in the titles, after all), perhaps things wouldn't be in the state they're in now. But no, content had to be released faster, but it also had to bigger and better than anything that came before it. That's not realistic. I won't get into the constant changes with nerfs/buffs, difficulty, and everything else. One of the things that people love to say is, "Bungie doesn't even play their own game!!!" But it's not really theirs anymore, is it? Maybe the best thing to do would be for them to churn out some sort of game-building sim or give players access to their developer kits (I think there's a proper name for that but I have no idea what it is) and tell players, "You think you can do better? Here's your chance, go nuts." How do you think that would turn out for everyone in the community? Personally, I think it would be a monumental failure and sh*t-show, given the fact that we can't agree on anything other than it's not what we want as it is now.

While I respect you and often see things in a similar way as you, I have to disagree on one point. The state of the game, good, bad or neutral is all on the company who makes and runs it. The players will always disagree on what the game should be or needs, along with giving opinions on it. At the end of the day, it’s still on the company to make the game. The company shouldn’t be listening to any players, they should be making the game they want. If it’s good, players will fallow. It’s their time, money, and resources, so they get to decide how they run their business, and therefore their game.

That's true and I agree, hence why I said, "Bungie can carry much of the responsibility." Just not all of it, especially when the popular party line these days is "Listen to the community!!!!" What are they expected to do, say no? How well do you think that might go over, since people are still shouting that nonsense like it would magically fix everything? Some seem to believe that's like a magic game-changing spell; may as well shout 'Expelliarmus' or 'Sim Sim Sala Bim' for all the good it would do.

Ah, to walk in the sandals of Sisyphus...............I'm going to give it a hard pass. Seems like a fruitless endeavor, and at any rate I don't like open-toed shoes. As for the servers, I don't know that Bungie would see them as a worthwhile expense. Besides, what would such a change entail anyway? - Would the game need to be taken completely offline, or could the transfer be done incrementally? - If it's gradually, would it have any negative impacts on the game during the process? - Would it actually make a difference in PvP anyway, or would there still be more of the same here resulting in a complete waste of time and resources? I'm trying to see the big picture and the long game, but all I'm coming up with is goose egg at the end. A rotten one at that.
