For Destiny 2.
I'll keep the details to a minimum, but as I watch the Marathon coverage... there's a needle poking into my brain...
"This game will have dedicated servers. This IS the Tiger engine".
All the coverage looks great.
The gunplay seems like a curated Destiny... Gungame style progression.
And Cross says there is a counter system for AI & Axis Player abilities from a previous pre-alpha build he tested.
D2 needs a counter system.
D2 needs better networking and dedicated servers.
The time is NOW.
@Bungie for your consideration, please and thank you 😇👍💠.

2 通の返信Will Marathon have dedicated servers? If not that’s classic. It will truly be DOA.

1 返信Sorry but those days are king gone , Bungie will be absorbed into Sony as soon as Marathon doesn't meet its sales goals

Man i wanted this so much dude. Begging for decent reliable connections But in the end Bungie blew all the profits on themselves for unreliable imaginary growth instead of investing in the live service game that their player-base has put so much into.

1 返信As I once understood it.........they'd need to rebuild D2 from the ground up just to even begin to get it to work like you'd hope it too. Ignoring the implications of it being a poor business decision at present.........you're only hope is for a D3 or for D2......to be completely remade.

7 通の返信Marathon is getting dedicated severs I can’t wait to leave this game behind. It has gotten boring. Past few years is reissue guns and reskins

9 通の返信Tell us how dedicated servers improve; RNG Nightfall modifiers Weight gated rolls Artificial play time via tedious interactions Artificial play time fighting mechanics and RNG Copy pasted old content Lack of content Forced pvp/pve/ time gated rewards Nerfs Lack of nerfs I could go on.. But tell us.. how a dedicated server improves any of the above. Now you got a dedicated server, then what?

Not smart from a business point. For something like give a 10 year old game bew dedicated servers a simple cost benefit analysis shows its not worth it. A. Dwindling or stagnant player count And no it doesn't matter about 700k player count or whatever it is if the games In game store doesn't bring in enough revenue. B. Product profits aren't great hence why bungie are struggling and cut dev resources. C. Cost of servers and time to transfer the game and all player data while avoiding loss of player data. D. How long until the game returns investment on the cost of doing it. It would need to return the costs with profit pretty fast. The sad truth is destiny just isn't healthy enough for dedicated servers being a wise choice. It would make sense for a destiny 3 but unfortunately we likely won't ever get that.

2 通の返信The problem is what would D2 players do IF there were dedicated servers, better/working anti-cheat etc? Do you think they moved in masses to Marathon? That's why you can't have it.

8 通の返信As I understand it, which I admit is limited, the logistics of something like that is nightmarish at best.
