You’re trying to read tea leaves when we have evidence of perk biases being in effect in ways that both harm and benefit players— all for the sake of making an argument against me for some reason. It’s very bizarre. We also have perk biases that make it less likely for the game to produce useless rolls on weapons— especially in competitive cases like this IB sidearm OP wants. And they’ve also spoken about in the past. I.e., getting range finder and threat detector as uniquely stupid perk combo on say for example an adept trials weapon. It doesn’t feel good and pisses people off. They’ve tried to make this less likely to happen by splitting perks like that into different columns…. But also by adding in perk biases so combos like that are very unlikely. Bungie has also, pretty recently stated— in relation to weight gate— something that also runs against this notion of raw probabilities. Which was that pure randomness is actually impossible in engineered randomness. Anybody working in parallel arenas already knew this— but it was an interesting reference. So even if we wanted these probabilities of ideal, neutral possible roll combinations, the data wouldn’t ever actually reflect it either. I don’t think it’s malicious on Bungie’s part— but that doesn’t mean we as players also don’t get to be a little miffed by it. Because the onus to do something about it is still on Bungie’s end. We aren’t the developers here. It’s up to Bungie to take control of the Black Swan here— and there is an ethics in how they choose to do that which effects us.
