We all have little things we do that are tied to our personalities. I had a friend in school who would talk with his hands a lot, and I don't mean ASL either. When it was a discussion he was very passionate or excited about (he was very big into guitars, for example) he would become so animated there were times I was certain he would but someone's eye out.

The thing that makes all of this hilarious is that normally people end up saying way worse things to me because being called sweetie bothers them for some strange reason. Like, I call you sweetie, and you say I'm a dumb idiot who deserves to die and somehow I'm still the bad guy? I don't get it.

I don't speak for anyone else, but I've been called FAR worse than sweetie and even most of those choice terms and phrases weren't enough to set me off; I think some people might just need to unclench a little and not see every innocuous remark as a personal affront.
