Regarding # 4: I honestly think it's neither. I think it's because they saw their numbers dropping. Despite what some may assert, I believe the trend of Steam population numbers can be extrapolated to all platforms. Do I think the game is dying? No, not really. The amount of people playing is still well within the threshold of a living game.
However, the Steam charts show the biggest drop off in players ever. The current numbers are literally only 2K higher than the worst numbers ever. They are about to break a record of low population by the end of the month. Yet, some people can't face that reality. But I believe the devs do because their jobs depend on it. By devs, I mean the people making the decisions. I believe there's a great deal of artist pride for the things they are doing with the resources they're being given. But, whoever is making the decisions really could give two blams. This video was not a reaction to complaints, it was a reaction to falling population numbers.
The numbers have dropped dramatically. I check the numbers regularly and have for years because if I don't like something I become curious if it's an issue for the fan base at large. Many times the numbers reflect that I'm in the minority and I just deal with it.
Lately I can't deal with the state of the game, and the numbers reflect that I'm NOT in the minority.
I can tell you truthfully that the extreme number drop after a new season starts is the worst I have ever seen. Yes, people log in and hope it will be a good season, then within three weeks it steadily plummets until it's a ghost town.
This is my favorite game. What that means is that when it's bad I don't play any games at all.
Currently I can tell you I bought all the seasons of Parks and Rec to view in my spare time.
Full disclosure. I have logged in fairly often the last two weeks (compared to the previous months which were almost non-existent). I decided to get Swarmers and while dicking around I got the Malfeasance catalyst and decided to get the kills to activate that.
I do the same for curiosity's sake. I honestly would be beyond thrilled if Destiny 2 got back to a place where I enjoyed playing, then you'd never see me on these forums. Everybody has their own pet peeves, and I'm happy to see them addressed for other people. Unfortunately, my particular pet peeves (like the current difficulty level) are never really addressed in such a way that leads me to think it will get better. However, my issues have been expressed often enough by people on these forums, so I know they're not fringe level concerns, so I figure if anything changes people will be talking about it here.
