1) Overall, the topics Joe discussed are definitely positive but, the state of the game post and Joe actually saying that they have failed to communicate with us still has me convinced that Bungie is struggling to manage Destiny 2 and develop Marathon at the same time.
2) I am grateful for the changes that Joe discussed but, I will hold off on saying “thank you” until the topics/ changes are implemented.
3) I hope the community can remain civil and not go crazy if Bungie is going to be more open with communication. However, I have seen what humanity has to offer and my hopes are VERY low for how long it will take the community to F this up.
4) I am unable to determine if Joe/Bungie released this message because they realized on their own that they need to make improvements or if this was damage control from the state of the game post.

The apathy is real and it comes from Bungie. Joe had to reverse course because it was the worse community reaction ever in Density history. How would you feel if you were in charge of Bungie's "Bud Light" moment? However this is a few years in the making. Light fall was a let down, the seasonal model is awful, and battle passes are old and tired. Bungie has moved on from this game. It was a good run but at this point I'm better off just watching the story ending of the final shape on Youtube and moving on.

1) Totally fair assessment 2) We can thank him for being genuine and responding while taking the wait and see approach. 3) Civility, decency and being respectful should be present in all dialogue unfortunately there’s many on these forums that don’t hold those core values. 4) They have the money to do whatever they want and say goodbye to half of the community in the process. With that said I believe upper management wants profits while Joe wants FS to be brilliant. I believe Joe was being genuine and honest. It took guts to do an unedited response with hand written notes. It’s obvious he cares but has to do his job within the parameters and budgets he’s given.

1 返信It's just damage control to shore up preorders after the Final Shape hype next week. Dude will stream once and then never do it again, lol.

I'm not sure why there's not more positivity around having PVP be more of a focus or the fact that it was mentioned. I like Joe and it will be nice if he or someone else from bungie has more time to communicate and acknowledge the issues of the game, like stability, etc., and talk about where we are heading, but it is hard as a fan to understand that they are planning everything 12 to 18 months out, so most change is pretty slow. While maybe I wouldn't agree with all choices he has made at least he's trying things. I feel like the game is over. I think we'll hear about what is next after everyone buys the next DLC. There's too much development time going to EV. Which would be fine, but why the high prices for a small amount of content for the yearly DLC subclass and a couple of story missions are not worth $50? When they are populating the EV store like it's a free-to-play game. I don't blame them for trying to make money, but it doesn't seem right. Also when you buy the latest yearly expansion / DLC you should get access to everything currently in the game. Are people really going back and buying all the old DLC to get subclasses and access to the NFs? I think it's weird to sell content that is mostly removed from the game. That would make me feel a bit ripped off.

1 返信TheShadowにより編集済み: 8/17/2023 12:15:54 AM1, Marathon is an excuse for the poor development of D2. They have the resources, it's just a matter of them being willing to put the resources into this game or not. 2, Even if the changes take place, it's not going to make up for the years of damage they deliberately caused. There have been way too many Band-aids when there should have been actual solutions, but I haven't seen any in years because this business refuses to look for actual solutions. 3, "Open communication". Yeah, right... Both D1 and D2 literally started out as a lie and the lies only piled up. How can anyone even trust any words that come out of this business mouth? Sure, some of the devs might be sincere, but today their words are used as bait to sell a product. Case and point...
343 posted all kinds of videos of the devs talking about how "great" Halo Infinite was going to be, what changes they made "to improve the Halo" and all the options players were going to have with customization, etc... Come the moment of truth they did the exact same BS this greedy business did with D2 base game. They royally screwed up Halo turning it into a lame RNG/microtransaction game and gave a BS story that they needed to pay for sever to try to cover their... Yet, more than half the game of what a Halo game offers was missing. The old Bungie move, pay now and will fix or add to the game years later. I have never seen any business lie as much as this one has in 30+ years of gaming, and it's literally always right before they sell any DLC, and a lot of you buy into it. The only time they ever made good on their word was with forsaken, and that's because someone had the balls to put actual effort into this game, not just looking for ways to get people to buy dresses from shop.
Overall, the BS with this business has gotten out of control, and whether Joe realizes how bad things are or not. The game is literally at the end of its life spend and this business is so over it that they can't wait to move on. They will almost say or do anything at this point to sell "the final shape", and all the nonsense they pulled before LF released is 100 proof of that.

2 通の返信4) 100% because of the backlash. It blew up on twitter, big creators where laughing at them, player numbers plummeted & they've a dlc they want pre ordering next week. It was already crumbling about other big issues recently The only thing I'm not sure of, is was it Pete parsons, or sony, who ordered this to happen, & was it a 'joe, make a video & bring them back around will you, make a few lame promises & reel them in' or was it 'joe wtf have you done, fix this fxxking mess now or you're gone'.

2 通の返信It’s all for show. It has always been for show. A PR plugging. They want your money. That’s what it’s all about. They’re putting out a DLC and they want to see preorders. That’s it. It’s laughable effort more than ever! What a move! I can’t stop laughing about it! They put out a State of the game (SOTG) a couple weeks ago. Now this?… Bwahahahahahaha!!! It’s time to milk the cows, and they’re getting ready for it. Bwahahahahahaha!!! You know what’s funnier?… The cows are lining-up to get milked! Bwahahahahahaha!!! There’s one born every minute. Don’t be one! One more thing, this is a company running a business. They are not your friends. They only want your money. That’s it. Once they milk it, they can do whatever they want. Again, WHATEVER THEY WANT! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Like I said, there is one born every minute. Don’t be one! Bwahahahahahaha!!! Welcome to hollowness!

I think they like to hear themselves talk more than anything. All the talk and we are in the worst state of the game we have ever been. I’m sorry but hire good leadership and talented developers. We don’t have that now and I’m sure it is all about cost.

This is just another "we screwed up, we are sorry, won't happen again (for the 10th + time??), please buy our game" broadcast. They've done this song and dance many times since I started playing the D1 Beta on Xbox 360. They trot it out every time the player numbers drop and people stop pre-ordering. It's all Sweet Talk to get you to buy their next DLC. Bungle refuses to learn or care about how they waste your time and money, we are just an ATM to them so they can fund other games.

3 通の返信Regarding # 4: I honestly think it's neither. I think it's because they saw their numbers dropping. Despite what some may assert, I believe the trend of Steam population numbers can be extrapolated to all platforms. Do I think the game is dying? No, not really. The amount of people playing is still well within the threshold of a living game. However, the Steam charts show the biggest drop off in players ever. The current numbers are literally only 2K higher than the worst numbers ever. They are about to break a record of low population by the end of the month. Yet, some people can't face that reality. But I believe the devs do because their jobs depend on it. By devs, I mean the people making the decisions. I believe there's a great deal of artist pride for the things they are doing with the resources they're being given. But, whoever is making the decisions really could give two blams. This video was not a reaction to complaints, it was a reaction to falling population numbers.

4’s backlash, but it was likely his personal decision to both make the vid and enact some of the changes. Joe is lead dev, but he isn’t the head of Bungie. He’s just doing the best with what he’s got. I’d agree with most of your statements. I’d give Bungie a solid “this was a good change, keep it up” for now and wait until we see some of these changes in the wild for more. A little praise when they do something good goes a long way.

I can't cut Bungie much slack because they have a history of letting the game get in such a bad state then apologizing for it, but the cycle keeps repeating, and each time it does, it's more offensive. Remember the last time Joe did this? It was right before Lightfall released and it was "we know players are burnt out on the seasonal model, and we have changes coming, but it's going to take time." So, OK? Where are these changes? If they've already been implemented, I can't tell, and if they haven't, what's the word? Is Bungie off the hook for that promise because enough of the players forgot about it?
4) I am unable to determine if Joe/Bungie released this message because they realized on their own that they need to make improvements or if this was in response to the backlash from the state of the game post.
Maybe rewatch the start of the video? He states it is because of the backlash to the state of the game and is trying something different

All i saw was a desperate attempt to get people to stay by saying well we f**ked up but don't give up on us yet. I came back after skipping this whole season because I got bored again but its not like its going to be any different next season or even during final shape. The game is in a state of decline and its because their more focused on marathon then destiny 2 so I'm not thanking anyone for half--blam!-ing it when this game should be their main focus not the side projects.
-
There's really no way to tell how Marathon is going. I bet it's going extra smooth because that's how all their games go. Thank yous are fine, waiting is fine but it's definitely good that the game feels like it's turning a corner. The community definitely needs to try to stay away from some of the over dramatic hate stuff. Or at least read what they type afterwards. There's a difference between being silly or irritated and just putting all your effort into hate spew. Probably a little of both but it doesn't really make much difference which one it was. Either way having joe step up and do something that he really doesn't have to is a good sign as far as the future state of the community is concerned. One of the downsides to us making it so they can't communicate is that the devs can end up starting to look like the hunger games government. So it's in everybody's interest to keep it so they can basically just hang out like it looked like Joe was doing yesterday.
