In a story mission with a boss fight where the boss one shots you at melee ranged mixed with the tormentors that can suppress you out of super, I would avoid running roaming supers unless absolutely necessary.
It's not like they were making up for it with good add clear either. I had like 80 kills on the second place player.
Strand and Stasis are best at add control and 2/3 of the supers on both are roaming supers. I hope we don't get a new subclass in FS and Bungie instead took the time to create new supers for those subclasses. We'll probably just end up getting new aspects though.

The Calus fight doesn't require heavy add control. It requires fighting 2 mini bosses and 1 big boss at the same time in a room with limited space and cover.
Roaming supers in that environment are essentially dying in purpose. Even with super level damage resistance, Calus still one shot stomps you most of the time.
