My only issue with it is that it has Repute tied to it. This would work fine as a seasonal challenge if that wasn’t attached to it.
Red boarders are better now. Hardcore players can invest a lot of time to get them and that’s who most seasonal challenges are for. There just needs to be bad luck protection (guaranteed sources is an example).
Crafting is supposed to be bad luck protection for the hardcore players. The whole system needs some tweaking as it currently devalues all your random drops.
So long as Bungie realizes that 2 guaranteed per week each season is a really good and fair amount it’ll be fine.
This type of challenge should be for players with lots of time invested and not tied to a seasonal upgrade currency.

My main issue aside from drop rates for casual play is that leveling from playing the game is too slow, a level just from activities is 5 completions i believe without kills and that a level up also starts at zero rather than carry any progress over

I may be suffering in the seasonal weapon department this season, but I’ve gotten all the dates weapons craftable now. Leveled up 4 of them (shotgun, gl, BXR, and Other Half) by just playing with them. Shotgun and BXR was when I was grinding vanguard ranks in Hero Nightfalls. Got around 1 level per run on BXR and 1 every two on the shotgun that I rarely ever pulled out. GL has mostly just been gambit trying to get GL kills in there to guild it. The sword was a pain though. Basically just slapped it on when my heavy didn’t matter. It’s a pain and slow. Kills need to give about 1.5x the Xp but it’s not as bad as everyone thinks this season. Last season was way worse. A level up without kills depends on the activity. It’s about 4 runs of either Ketchcrash or Expidition, 3 basic playlist activity completions, 2 nightfalls or trials matches. Raids are weird as the Xp rewarded for encounter completions appears to vary. Activity completions not carrying over excess XP is annoying but not so to the point that I really notice.
