Because this game’s loot pool isn’t big enough or deep enough to support it.
You’d break the game.

Spawn Of Apathyにより編集済み: 8/16/2022 4:43:29 PMHow? Being sold by Xur hasn’t broken the game and the rolls he’s had have been quite good to godly. DMT isn’t exactly ruling over crucible at the moment. Bungie’s nerfs to it kind of saw to that. Honestly, what’s the significant difference in Xur selling god rolls here and there and everyone buying them if they don’t already have one, and being able to craft them instead?
-
Because Xur doesn’t make everything available at once. Xur is just there to act as “bad RNG insurance”. You go play the game to get your exotics, and only come to him when something refuses to drop, or you get a chance to replace a bad version of something you already have. Vendors are not a replacement for playing the game, or grinding to min/max or perfect a build.
-
Spawn Of Apathyにより編集済み: 8/16/2022 5:36:05 PMBut Xur isnt a replacement for that, because you can’t get those two weapons anywhere else in the game. Hawkmoon and DMT are not in any other loot pool as a guaranteed or possible drop.
-
Because you bypass the grind, undermine the game’s replayability by rewarding people for not playing the game. In short, this game’s loot table to too shallow and too small to allow for crafting on more than just a token basis.
-
I’ve explained it. The answer isn’t going to change. The core reward loop for a game like this is play content…get random loot. The replayability of the game comes from grinding content to get specific versions of of weapons and armor to create particular character builds. Crafting undermines this play loop and reward loop. The role of crafting in a loot game is to be a protection against bad luck. Not as an easy way to get the games rewards with minimal effort.

So the answer to “what’s difference” is maybe time. Though there has only been two weapons that took seemingly no time at all to craft. The enigma and Osteo Striga. Every thing else takes quite a bit of time. For the 5 deepsight weapons you can often get your god roll to drop before you got enough deepsights to craft. Or maybe not time. Maybe to Bungie the difference is randomness. Getting a god roll was random before and it still is. But still Xur has been selling these two for about 24 weeks. That hasn’t broken the game. It didn’t make some activity non-relevant, because their original sources were already gone. So really it makes little difference to the ecosystem of the game if we could instead craft them.
-
If this is a problem then you are playing the wrong kind of game. Like I said. Go play Warframe. That’s a game designed to let you build everything. Of course you’re going to spend all your time grinding for RNG crafting materials rather than RNG loot…. …,and Warframe is bottomless time-sink of a game.

I’m saying waiting for a vendor to sell an exotic god roll for way to much isn’t good gameplay or an engaging loot grind because it’s non farmable so you can’t grind for a dmt you have to wait for xur to sell it. Yes this is a looter shooter doesn’t mean vendor sells gun with big perk pool is an engaging grind it’s mindless at least crafting snd leveling the gun would engage the player in the grind even if the grind is small.

Dont debate with him. The crafting topic is some kind of poison to this man. It doesnt matter what youre saying. Crafting is bad and doesnt belong in the game. His arguments on why the Xur situation is ok are absurd because he will do whatever mental gymnastics are necessary to tell you that everything is better than crafting.
-
But we’ve already crossed that bridge. Nobody is being required to play the missions to get a random roll of either weapon. Show up and buy it or show up and craft it are essentially the same “no effort” level. You can already not have played Destiny for 2 years, come back on a Friday and just buy a god roll DMT and Hawkmoon. The OP wasn’t talking about all exotics or even all weapons sold by Xur. Just these two.
-
Yep. You can do that if you are willing to settle for just having one. But if you want a perfect rolled one you are going to have to engage with the game and follow Xur for quite awhile. Whereas crafting is a couple days worth of play and you have exactly what you want. Which is how you destroy a game like this.

Before you’re claiming venders like Xur aren’t a replacement for activities and now you’re basically saying Xur is an activity. Which, not really, because you don’t even need to log into the game to see what the roll is. Somebody could have stopped playing activities after beating the WQ campaign, waited for Xur to have the roll they wanted using YouTube, D2 all, or just googling it on Friday, grab it, and then not play the game until the next expansion. Having to buy something from Xur doesn’t force them to have any meaningful interaction with the game. Maybe if we had to use one of those cyphers in buying it, but we don’t.
