Thank you. Someone else sees through the nonsense. It is a entry number for a specific activity with a difficulty spectrum. It is the beginning steps for FOMO.
Thank you. Someone else sees through the nonsense. It is a entry number for a specific activity with a difficulty spectrum. It is the beginning steps for FOMO.
FOMO is already pretty bad with this game on the level of dealing with gear and such. Even with Sunsetting going away. But that takes me to another point, please excuse the tangent, and let’s take away the power grind for a moment. To me, the worst part of FOMO is the story, there’s now way to many incidents of “had to be there” for much of what’s going on to have the impact it did when it happened. For the current story to have meaning to people that weren’t playing content before it was vaulted. Example: We’re about to lose Forsaken, which takes all the importance of Crow as a character, not to mention Cayde’s influence on current events, and shutters it. New Lights will have no connections to so many things that made the vets like Crow when we despised him from D1, culminating with Cayde’s death, and then his resurrection and redemption arc. That was a masterpiece of literary art and a genius turn about in character development! And Saint-14’s story/legend, with the gut punching twist that we (the Guardian) we’re the ones that showed him the vision of the city that he in turn fought for with a legendary passion that was talked about for centuries after his “death” in the lore! Even back in D1 I was fascinated by his character (not to mention that helmet saved my raid team’s -blam!- on more occasions than I can count). That story brought me to tears with that “HOLY SH!T!!!!” moment when we “rescued” him! But that’s all gone now. Without that background that we actively participated in, he’s just some big funny guy in the tower that manages Trials Of Osiris (another tale gone) that gives bounties. No connection if you weren’t there. I get they’re trying to keep the game manageable. I understand loading times and updating and wanting to keep systems “nimble”. And for the most part, that’s good. But I can’t help but wonder how much we’re losing/lost in terms of story and character impact by this system and if the trade is worth it. 🤷‍♂️

 • Everything you mentioned is spot on. Players play games simply for the loot and the story aspect not for some number that has to be reset for us to feel like we achieved or accomplished something.
