Sunsetting existed specifically for those weapons. How do people still not understand that? They were op.

Because they would have had to nerf them to being useless. Their perks were to good and it was causing power creep which is a game killer. So to not ruin weapons people worked hard for they left them be so they can be used in casual game types but not end game and removed the problem. It’s why the ritual weapons we’ve had since those weapons aren’t super amazing. Because they’re unique but not amazing preventing power creep.
-
The weapons were op, people weren’t using new weapons, and the weapons couldn’t be nerfed without undermining the weapons. What they did was the most logical option. It also allowed them to clean up the perk pool and turn the real draw of weapons to be a variety of perks that are more based on play style than what simply makes your shots do the biggest number.
-
Perks get reworked to be useless which is the problem. Adrenaline junky was bad and is being reworked to be at all useful. With the pinnacle weapons they had great perks and instead of ruining the op perks of those guns they just excluded them from end game while not ruining them. You can still use not forgotten in quickplay and basically any casual playlist. People just don’t do so because it doesn’t help you get better for actual end game because you won’t be able to use it.
-
That was the problem with the pinnacle perks though. They couldn’t be. Not without making the weapons be devalued by being just no better than any other weapon. Also weapons like recluse had stats like stability that will never be allowed again. An smg with no recoil basically even on consoles. Really makes all other smgs trash even without the master of arms perk. Perks can be balanced to be all average and none of them amazing but that invalidates the effort spend to get the pinnacle weapons. It is also why the current loot system and such is way more weighed toward perks, particularly ones that just allow different play and not just purely adding damage. Though you can see with the more recent pinnacle weapons that the perks they are putting out now even for those weapons are just good but not op. They’re also easier to get meaning them being underwhelming doesn’t feel like an insult the way invalidating months of work or more people put in for ritual weapons does.
-
Some things were casualties for the good of the game’s health long term which sucks but if it means I’m not still stuck with nothing matching recluse three years after I got it I have to say it was a worthy sacrifice. And those weapons may still be brought back. Bungie is just slowly adding them back into the game rather than dumping a ton all at once.
-
That isn’t even close to being true. Lunas, not forgotten, mountaintop, and recluse we’re all op as hell in pvp and pve even after nerfs to all of them. They could not be balanced without being made useless so they left them as is and relegated them to everything but end game activities.

-
None of that is true. Luna and not forgotten we’re still prevalent, recluse after every nerf was always the best option, and mountaintop was even the preferred weapon for grenade launcher kills when people were trying to get the wither bird catalysts because it’s still op. People just don’t play with low leveled things because they forget light level doesn’t matter in most situations. And all those weapons were the top tier weapons even in pve. If you didn’t have them you didn’t do end game content until after sunsetting.
None of that is true. Luna and not forgotten we’re still prevalent
Really? Then why did every tracking website show spare rations or dire promise at much higher usage rates? Maybe because they had an extra perk that lunas and nf didn't since 150s were a 3 tap kill regardless of magnificent howl or not?
recluse after every nerf was always the best option
Nope, season of arrivals was where it gots its second nerf and by then was completely replaced by Gnawing Hunger, same as above every tracker website will corroborate this, why use a smg with less ammo, damage, range and stability when you can rock a 600 rpm auto? After the second nerf the gun saw little use however when bungie nerfed feeding frenzy the gun was rendered neutered
and mountaintop was even the preferred weapon for grenade launcher kills when people were trying to get the wither bird catalysts because it’s still op.
Whitherhoard dropped in season 11 before mt got its major nerf, this shows ignorance on your part.
People just don’t play with low leveled things because they forget light level doesn’t matter in most situations.
Or because said old gear isn't strong anymore and is on par with similar options today - meaning those guns could come back without being the only gear used. If not they'd still see use in all 1100 power activities
And all those weapons were the top tier weapons even in pve. If you didn’t have them you didn’t do end game content until after sunsetting.
Pre nerf? Meh. I did ALL endgame just fine with things like izanagi and spike grenade launchers, Post nerf? They're a joke

All of those weapons even right now in crucible wreck shop. They dominate with little effort and just because you don’t want to admit it doesn’t make it true. Everyone knew and anyone with a brain knew they were a problem and that the nerfs didn’t help. They would announce a nerf and nothing ever changed. They were always op and were a problem. I have all of them, and used them some times, and I know how powerful they still are. If they weren’t why would people want them brought back? If they weren’t still top of the pack then people wouldn’t miss them.
All of those weapons even right now in crucible wreck shop.
Other then revoker name 1 pinnacle gun that still "wrecks shop"
They dominate with little effort and just because you don’t want to admit it doesn’t make it true. I have all of them, and used them some times, and I know how powerful they still are.
This isn't true at all, mt is terrible today compared to other gls post nerf and so is recluse compared to shayuras or multimach, I won't even go into how much worse lunas or nf is compared to other 150s when mag howl is a useless perk since 150s 3 tap regardless.
If they weren’t why would people want them brought back? If they weren’t still top of the pack then people wouldn’t miss them.
People miss a huge amount of Y1-Y3 guns, I'd like to see everything come back since it shouldn't have been removed to begin with, none of these guns would change up pve or pvp aside from revoker which just needs a perk change.

And most of those are being readied just with a balanced perk pool which we’re the other half of sunsetting. Hell even most of the archetypes of sunset weapons never went anywhere just certain perk combinations were prevented after sunsetting so nothing was really lost.
And most of those are being readied just with a balanced perk pool which we’re the other half of sunsetting.
You mean with garbage perk pools, see twilight oath
just certain perk combinations were prevented after sunsetting so nothing was really lost.
Certain perk combinations being prevented is a massive loss....
-
It isn’t a loss when it prevents power creep. And the current perk pool isn’t bad. It just doesn’t have op combinations meaning more actual individual preferences existing rather than op god roll options being the only viable weapons.
