Here's my issue with Vex and random raid exotic drops on the whole, it's lazy design. It allows Bungie to circumvent making engaging content that ties into the endgame by allowing some random series of numbers to decide who gets what and when. We could have had a cool quest where we travel through time to reclaim the Mythoclast, since we had it in the last game, but nope, no dice. We could have used it in a quest to save Preydeth, but nope, no deal. It was easier to make it a random drop at the end of the raid just like last time because nostalgia, which completely ignores the fact that nobody liked it there either.
It wouldn't even be hard to make it work. Have us kill Oracles in the Vault, and after 7 a Vex Gate opens and instead of fighting Atheon we fight...Xylar the Timeless and get Vex at the end. Boom. A meme becomes reality and everyone who can get Vex would get it instead of playing wheel of misfortune.
Rng does suck, but no need to write a book about it or get so mad about… you’re not special because EVERY player goes tru this at some point…
I'm not really mad, I'm annoyed. I also never claimed to be "special" and the fact that everyone has to go through this at some point is bad and we shouldn't be okay with it just because it's always been like that dude.
-
The bad times really do genuinely suck. I spent countless hours trying to get a god rolled imago loop only to never even get a firefly one. But it’s that suck that makes the good parts even better IMO. Can’t appreciate good times when everything is good times
Wouldn’t really hold the value of a raid exotic then. Raid bosses aren’t hard and don’t offer much of a chase. Would be nice if maybe when you get the seal the gun drops
Do Divinity and Legend of Acrius not hold value as raid exotics because they were tied to a quest?

It gets harder to get as time goes on because once someone has it they have no reason to do a Divinity run ever again. Legend of Acrius, no lol. That's a POS gun thats straight garbage and was handed out like candy. More of a meme than a weapon. That being said, seeing Vex drop after beating Atheon (on my second try, I'm sorry everyone) felt really, really good.
That being said, seeing Vex drop after beating Atheon (on my second try, I'm sorry everyone) felt really, really good
I bet it did, and I'm happy for you, but this is kind of the crux of my whole issue.

I get both sides of the argument. It's not an easy one i don't think cause to give one side what they one shuns the other. I for one appreciate the current design of most raid exotics being an RNG boss clear with some quest-tied raid exotics peppered about. I see people every day on the forums losing their minds though after "33 clears no vex, 30 clears nothing, etc".... and that does suck.
-
You know, I get it, seeing that raid exotic drop at the end gives people the warm fuzzies, but here's the thing. I already got that warm fuzzy feeling back in D1, and now Bungie is making me do it all over again and it feels like a slap in the face.

From quest drop to div in my hands it took 36 minutes…. And haven’t touched it since so I’d definitely say no it’s not valuable whatsoever. Acrius meh not really either cause it wasn’t hard to get, just took a little time investment and very little skill. I don’t think rng is the healthiest option either but quest ones are drastically less fun at least to me.
-
Yup. Friend wanted to grind 980’s all evening so he was running some friends through at the time and left so I could get the completion. Start to finish I spent 36 minutes getting a raid exotic lol and I’ve basically never used it since
-
I’ve done the raid and all the steps multiple times just didn’t end up having to that one time. Rng is a -blam!- but it also has the potential to create the most incredible moments. Many of these moments have stuck with me over the years as some of the highlights.
-
while yeah, those moments can be good, there is a point where enough is enough, like the people who have hundreds of DSC clears and no eyes of tomorrow. I imagine if it drops after that point its less of "i'm hyped to get this exotic" and more of "thank goodness I never have to do that again"

Also, RNG is and always will be a terribly lazy way to get raid exotics, I would do a difficult quest any day of the week.

Then everyone would have it and everyone would be using the same weapon with the same build and then people would complain that there's no build diversity because mythoclast is superior and then it would be nerfed because people complained. Your idea doesn't work. Sorry

Milkにより編集済み: 8/28/2021 7:31:51 PMLet me explain to you why you're wrong. 1. Not everyone would have it, the minority of people who have completed the raid would have the best chance at getting it, and those who are willing to put in the work to get the gun would get it. Does everyone have Divinity? No, and that was a quest exotic. Does everyone have Legend of Acrius? No, and that was a quest exotic. See what I'm getting at here? 2. Your idea only works if Mythoclast is demonstrably stronger than everything else, and it's objectively not. People are still using other weapons in PvP and nobody is using Mytho to do big damage on bosses. It's good at ad clear, but it's not anything I would give up my exotic slot for in high end content. Even with Ehroars build as a point of consideration, what happens when the mods that make Vex strong go away? Vex goes back to being good, but not the best. 3. So, instead of getting an interesting quest to get a weapon, your okay with random drops? You're okay with less content? I just want to be sure I'm hearing you correctly...

Divinity wasn't a fun or super cool weapon to most people. It was a utility trace rifle. Also, garden was actually difficult and people certainly didn't like it as much as VoG. Also, this season, fusions are going to be used a lot more in endgame content. Stacking damage buffs on vex will more than allow you to kill champs and deal respectable damage on bosses while still having something like a rocket launcher equipped. I think you're underestimating mythoclast. I also think you're underestimating how many people would go out of their way to get mythoclast, especially with how powerful it is right now, along with the seasonal fusion mods. Not to mention it's the vex mythoclast. And not a utility trace rifle which was hardly ever useful or some dumb shotgun. Absolutely everyone would do the quest for mythoclast if they could.
