Arrivals was amazing IMO. The Umbral system was at its best, the seasonal activity was decently fun, and could be done pretty quickly with the dupe glitch. Also, the new weapons were very powerful, and fun to use with swords actually becoming viable (now beginning to fade into obscurity again), and funnily enough the threat of the DCV convinced most of my friends to rejoin the game.
I ran all the raids I had been putting off, grinder for all the exotics and cleared every raid with my same 5 friends and me. I was season rank in the 200s without any serious bounty farming because I had just been playing that much. I did all the exotic quests and catalyst quests I’d put off. I’d taken about a 6 month break, and had a ton of content to catch up on. Plus, the story hook of the darkness actually becoming a threat got me excited about the upcoming expansion…then BL happened and that came tumbling down. Stasis broke the crucible, everything story wise was exceptionally mediocre, we barely got any in-game story (lore cards don’t count), and no actually “darkness” threat. Just more vague hints and ideas.
Now, with WC 5 months away and just a few short days for the new season to launch with not even a trailer in sight, not to mention a ton of nerfs to some of my favorite builds and equipment (RIP Warmind cell builds, Anarchy, Xeno, and everything that was nerfed in the past), and no new mention of a new raid (basically the only content i truly enjoy at this point) I think me and D2 are about to have a nice long split from each other.
Every season since Shadowkeep has been practically identical. The 7x3 grid was old after the first season. Every seasonal activity is boring and after the 1st or second run.
I voted opulence, but VoG saved this season for a close second. I can't even remember which season was which before this one, they were all equally unremarkable.
More raids and dungeons 🤞🤞🤞
