But since it’s always been that way, and since we don’t see a change in the near future, we should keep checking our postmaster for now. They have warned us so many times, so if we use it for storage, we got to assume the risk. I’ve got burned on it many times this season lol. Probably lost more ascendent shards than I’ve collected, but I just forgot to check.
However, a change on materials cap is very much needed!
Exactly right.
It takes 3 ascendant shards to masterwork an exotic and 1 to masterwork Legendary armour. Why is the limit 10 for my inventory and 10 for postmaster? If my inventory was a decent size, I would not need to even worry about Post Master overflow or limit.
Because that's how Bungie kept people engaging with High level NFs prior to Adept weapons coming to the game.
They want you playing them consistently. Not bingeing and then stockpiling the materials.
That's a great idea. Except the genius system designers at Bungies decided to make the upgrade bottleneck enhancement cores. So you end up with multiple stacks of all the high tier upgrade mats instead. Solution? Make the stacks larger. There is no technical reason it can't be done and it has no impact on gameplay besides QOL.
There is no repeatable, non-exchange source for enhancement cores. You can get 12 per day (if you play three characters, 4 per day if you only play one) from Banshee bounties, exchanging 30 legendary shards per core with a very small limit (this should honestly be a 10:1 exchange rate, too, since the last option is much higher efficiency) at Spider, or you can exchange shards/enhancement prisms for 3 cores per dismantling 1 blue item. You either have a time bottleneck through bounties or a legendary shard bottleneck with exchanges, in addition to the limit on Spider. Meanwhile enhancement cores are required for masterworking everything in the game, particularly weapons, and also required for upgrade modules, which are needed constantly.
Ascendant shards? You run one GM and can get 2-3 at once. You only need 1 shard to masterwork a piece of armor. You need 3 cores to masterwork armor and 17 for a weapon. You need 1 core per upgrade module to upgrade your light level on any gear. Enhancement core costs quickly add up because you need them for literally everything and there is no way to farm them that doesn't cost you other resources or have some sort of gate/limit. Ascendant shards and prisms can be gotten for completely free by simply doing content without any limit at all.
I have close to 1500 Enhancement cores.
You can farm them through consumables (boss fight drops) , and you get them as rewards for leveling up in the Crucible and Gambit playlists.
Plus you can get them as rewards for low level NFs and the 1310 Lost Sectors.
Weirdly as it sounds, playing only High end PVE content such as GMs and farming them only drops ascendant shards and prisms. So you’ll stack up on those much quicker than enhancement cores. However I will say I’m a victim of not using my consumables that allow me to get glimmer, shards, etc ..
