“So you meet my gaze. You’re a different kind of person than I thought. It was wrong of me to assume you were like the rest. Most walk away, you came to meet my demand.” He leans back. “Care to listen to a request then?”
-
The old man sits up, then lets his head hit the wall behind him. “Forgive me. I misjudged you. I was blind to my own hypocrisy, and judged you based off of your reactions.” He sits back up and waves a hand behind himself. “This place was once filled with a rich, vibrant energy. Now all I sense is tension and dread. We believe this to be the work of a group of people working to cram themselves into this city… tell me, are you familiar with private contractors?”
-
“We’re beginning to have a bit of an issue with them…” The old man sighs. “They’ve been picking us off one by one to having the permission needed to start construction. But given Offtopic Law, that no construction shall be allowed if living beings inhabit said area. Companies try to find a way around that. Theres been an influx of them lately, and multiple layers as well. These contractors are hired by companies, then said contractors hire a contractor to work under them, and the cycle continues. Given there’s no limit to this, or the Council just hasn’t noticed, it’s led to….unfortunate situations.”
-
“So these companies are sending these contractors to try to kick you out so they can build there? That pisses me off. I grew up in Africa in a camp. It was built right next to a railroad that was owned by the local militia. Every month the train would go by delivering supplies to their bases. They’d use our tents as target practice.” His voice gets bitter and angry. The words have obviously dredged up a lot of bad memories.

“Exactly, and given we’re in no position to do anything about it, we decided to search for help. That’s where you come in. These contractors all have an instructor, they always do their hits in a specific way. Find the group, grab a slum goer silently, take them away from the scene, and chop them up, scattering the remains in numerous dumpsters. The time it takes for camp to realize there’s a missing person and the discovery of the body has been known to be as short as 2 minutes. These dumpsters aren’t close together either, they sit along the outskirts of town. To travel to each one in a span that quickly is physically impossible. There has to be a meet up point where they chop up the body.”
-
We have a lead on who they might target next. It seems the company, or companies behind this are seeking to acquire as much property as possible, so they’ve been going around to small businesses trying to gain their plot of land through various means. There is one shop close by that hasn't been visited yet, and we need you to go there and find out anything you can.”
