Not every archetype will be the most competitive. 180 hand cannons are a prime example of that. They are niche. Rapid fire pulses are niche. 450 autos are descent. 360 are niche. Not everything can be top notch and there is such a thing as niche. They remain niche because any buff to them makes them ridiculous. For example..... 120 hand cannons. They were niche, and should have remained 110s without receiving a damage buff. They already had insane ranges, they didn't need the RPM and damage increase to compete.
That's the problem with buffing niche weapons. 360 autos already hit 40s to the head with damage buffs. Sure, lets buff base head shot damage to 38, that way with rampage or kill clip or even a basic empowering rift they'll hit 45 to the head. 5 shot kill at 360 rpm for any resilience. Care to take a guess at that AIDS ttk value? I agree 120s are extremely free but buffing everything else to align with an outlier is the definition of power creep. For the most part, minus DMT and 120s and a few marginal outliers like slide shot GLs etc, the sandbox isn't in a horrible spot. Ammo economy is absolute trash though.

Also when it comes to 180 hcs some actually are pretty good depending on the roll you get the new one that came this season from crucible is amazing especially with the roll I got on mine, I just wish others had the new perk options available to them for example the ikelos one

Yea but being limited to a very specific role also makes it niche. Dire will always kill in 3 crits. I don't need some form of perk to hit optimal ttk. Eternal blazon gets kill clip allowing 2h 1b as a 180 scout for low resilience but that's niche because it's dependent on variables. Same for things like box breathing scouts. They are good, but only fill a certain roll.

Trust I know exactly what you mean I pretty much just had enough of the forced seasonal shifted meta that bungie causes as well as seeing nothing but shotguns being shoved down mine and many others throats every match for sure the special ammo economy is way out of line and being constantly abused by people running double scav mods. The main point I was trying to make was that special weapons are more used as primary weapons more than actual primary and yh does come down to the issue with special ammo being so easy to obtain but also because a select few primary weapons such as 120 hcs, 600 autos, sidearms and the odd pulse rifles mainly 340s are the only primary weapons that do the job when it comes to pvp adjusting even if just slightly the other archetypes of said weapons may make the difference and give more viable options for people to use I'm not saying everything needs to one shot like the others who commented pointed out the slightest adjustments can make a difference if bungie actually cared to try and then test, the current meta grew stale really quickly for me at least and I'd like to see other options available other than just 120 hcs, shotguns and autos yh bigger sized maps would definitely help especially with scout rifles and others but the chances of actually getting any looks to be rather slim right now

Yea. You're not wrong. Constant nerfs mean nothing to special weapons. They should just disable scav mods ... That literally solves the problem without any major impact to weapons themselves. Cough quickdraw cough. I use 140s. Its annoying getting 2 tapped or 2 burst by 340 pulses, 120s, or DMT but I've always liked 140s. I used ace in forsaken over NF. I prefer thorn over dire. I wish old fashioned would have come back for more than one season and with better roll options than it got. I was hoping igneous would have been a 140..... I don't think Bungie does it intentionally but they try to hard to make niche weapons " new " to " give new breathe " but the problem with niche is they're good.... They just get out rpm or ranged. Damage wise they're top tier already. So when you increase their range and rpm.... You get 120s. I'm content with niche. I liked 110s, I hate 120s. I'm not even convinced they're 120s. More like 130-135s.... If they were 120s a 140 would never ever trade shot for shot with perfect crits. I mean... Considering 140s rarely traded with 150s and mida never trades with 180 scouts.... something is up with them.
