you pay $15 but there is a lot gain from that
you also 18 jobs with different play styles (started with 10)
8 crafters 3 gathers
8 different races each with 2 sub path. 6 of those have male and female options
8 different cluster servers with 8 severs on each cluster. and allow have 4 char per server
1-2 dungeons per major patch
4 8 man raid every other major patch
1 24 man raid every other major patch
tons of side quest, mini games, seasonal event that actually give you exclusive items that don't have to buy, cross over events from other games, housing, pets, mounts, music and social spaces.
I disagree that ffxiv tansmog is perfect as 400 space dresser and 15 glam plates that can only be changed in major cities is not enough but it a far cry from what destiny offering and the extra cost actually can be seen in the game while destiny has soon change in it story delivery nothing else has really evolved from d1 if anything it has devolved.

Right now, D2= base game is free, BL Digital Deluxe edition is $60-70, and you also have to buy Forsaken/ Shadow keep separately, so roughly hundred bucks to start "playing" now. FF14= Base game, plus first expansion is free, no subscription needed. Complete edition is $30-60, and includes a free 30 subscription. So where are you getting 3X the price? If you want to calculate the total costs from the beginning of each to now, that's not going to be representative of most players of both. We will need a detailed Power point presentation with all this information, completed in a timely manner and turned into the front desk by the end of class.

You have to take it as a value over time comparison, because one game has the vast majority of its cost OVER TIME. Yes, Destiny has a higher cost of entry, but maintaining is significantly cheaper. Ultimately it will come down to individual players preference over what mode they might prefer.

Learn to take a bit of criticism, and discussions like this can actually be productive.

You’re doing the same thing. I did the calculation on what it costs to run both games since release, as many people have run with either franchise that long. (In my case, I’ve supported both destiny and FFxiv since release), but you just tell me I’m wrong because it doesn’t fit into your new light player narrative.
