<I'm at the point where only Savathun's major steps are even interesting. Dreaming City? Hell yeah. Interference? Interesting. All of her BIG steps are kinda cool IMO, but holy shit the little things tick me off to no end to varying degrees. Let's take that Hidden Swarm bit. Honestly, I'm OK with it, except for the fact that necromancy's the god damned reason Pit will likely never be solved until "[Kinox] will either be a random enemy in a mission or a raid boss".
Savathun's Song, the Hawkmoon stuff, just so many little things that just bore me or make me go "wtf?". It's just, she's reached a point where if Witch Queen doesn't come soon, I'm gonna lose it. Mara Sov has also reached this point, but is also kind of a -blam!- as well so it arguably stings more everytime someone in-lore says "oh she's so great" when she literally abandoned her people to fight a war she can't win.>

I think I’m in the unpopular group that actually enjoy the build up of large enemies like Savathun. I think it’s more of the fact that she’s learned from the Mistakes of Oryx and has begun orchestrating from the shadows to build up up dominoes, that we will eventually see in Witch Queen, where we will probably end up killing her in the raid for.

Yeah but why hide any possible motive from the players? There’s plenty of lore that the MC doesn’t know and it won’t hurt to hint at what she’s planning. Otherwise it comes off as lazy because she’ll just appear with some big plan that the writers had to retroactively add in to make it seem clever. I normally love potting characters but the way she’s simultaneously paraded by parts of the community as more dangerous than oryx but we only have little to go on except for mostly failures in disconnected schemes, which make her seem unimpressive.

It’s what story tellers call a mystery box. Giving enough information to drive us to want to know what’s in ‘the box’ but with holding just enough to where we aren’t satisfied until they build up the opening of said box, (which will happen in Witch Queen).

Actually, Mara got herself killed on purpose to enter the ascendant realm. While we were busy trying to kill Oryx, Mara was pulling some strings in the ascendant plain. So her death was actually helpful. She had to make it look convincing so that Oryx didn’t realize she entered the ascendant plain. Her teckians wanted to save Mara when they teleported, but Mara insisted they go without her.

<Oh I know of her sacrifices during the Taken War, and I'm not talking about those. I'm talking about leaving her people to suffer a curse on their home turf while she wastes resources on the Pyramid Armada, not even denting them in the process. She just left them to fall at Savathun's hand while she fights an enemy that currently has no way of being stopped. Even she admitted this failure, but the damage is done. Ever since Forsaken her character's been on a downward spiral, and her message during SotH was the tip of the iceberg. -blam!- Mara Sov, she's no longer fit for the position she takes unless she pulls something big out of her ass.>

I kinda agree. I just don’t see anything Savathun has done as impressive or remotely interesting. With the exception of stuff like her song everything amounts to us randomly attributing stuff to her and us instantly annihilating every plan of hers we come across. Stuff like the moon especially annoys me because it was far more interesting than anything she has done and because it makes no sense why Hashladun would trust her aunt especially when she of all people would know how untrustworthy she is.
