The problem is the eventually. Remember that every player is a character united under the same goal. If a team completes a new raid, the game progresses. This progress is not tied to your character or account, but to the game and the community. Just like puzzles like the sundial or seasonal lore content like the Almighty crashing down. Just because you don't experience it right away does not mean it doesn't happen. Besides, the progress unlocked more missions and weapons for everyone. It would be horrible if a raid clear was required to access these things.

 • I understand your point. I wouldn't ask for this content to be locked behind a raid completion. I'm a firm believer that a game, especially one like this, should be able to be played however the player prefers. If they don't want to do a raid or pvp, they shouldn't have to to be able to play all or most of the other content. My issue is more specifically with the cutscenes and dialogue sprung on the player without warning. I loaded into Europa Saturday evening. My fireteam was taking a break from the raid as we had put a few hours into it and some of us had to work. Obviously we knew that someone else would complete it in that that, but I wasn't expecting to load into a zone and be met with a cutscene explaining what happens in the later encounters and how the raid ends. When my team continued the raid, I was expectant instead of excited. Bear in mind I'm no game designer so I don't pretend to know what the best alternative would be, but off the top of my head it would be nice to have a new icon on the map that you can select to view the cutscene and info dump about the first completion. Similar to the icons on the destination map before a new expansion that would have trailers and info about the release.

 • I absolutely get where you're coming from. It's just a lot more fun if a game can be played however we want. I think most people would agree with that. Unfortunately this is an impossible task to perfect. You can't please everyone of course, and can't make certain pieces of loot available for everyone who just doesn't want to do the specific mission for it. It's really difficult to pinpoint. Either way, the cutscene is iffy as well. It could be in a specific section that you can prompt it whenever, like you suggest, which would just leave the dialogue to be in your face. Or maybe an in-game option to not show those things without permission? It's just a tricky situation because the best options I see is to have it as it is and show everyone on the first completion, or only show those who have completed it. Those two would just be the easiest to manage. Or alternatively, how about something timegated? For the first 30 hours, because there will be groups still at it after the 24 due to timezones, it wont show anything in terms of completions. Or what if the cutscene/dialogue is non-specific about the boss and encounters? Just a general summery of "ok so because of this, we had to raid this place and deal with the [race] threat inside. A group of guardians succeeded, but for how long?"

 • They could've unlocked the weapons without giving us a couple paragraphs on how the crypt was broken into. It definitely cheapens the experience to log in and see "hey while you were asleep/at work these awesome and important things happened". I'm not against Bungie acknowledging or celebrating World's First, but IMO it should be on social media, not in the game.

 • Parts wouldn't make sense though. The only reason we can get Lament is because we finished the raid. The only reason Elsie and Variks allow us to continue is because we finished the raid. While you and others might complete the raid eventually, many wont. Because they either don't care or just aren't able to. So they'd never get to see the cutscenes and new missions. Besides, it doesn't take that much away from the experience. Just because people completed it wont mean the raid is completely spoiled. If you don't look up anything, you wont know what the 2nd encounter is from just the in-game cutscene. Stuff always happens when someone isn't watching. There are always moments when not everyone is available. Take the end event of the last season. Majority couldn't be in it simply for the time restriction. That's just how a live game works
