I have put more time into ESO then any other video game in my life (jedi academy not included) and i have spent literally thousands of dollars in the Crown Store(cash shop) because there is so much in the game that its easy to justify my wizards tower and sweet ass mounts.
Destiny however is an entirely different beast, its hard to justify ornament purchases when its the only way to not look like hot garbage, weapon skins are the same, why buy a ship, seriously, why?
Even when they (apparently) bring transmog i have zero faith that it wont be semi paywalled.
Bungie seem be to stuck in this sort of QoL changes should be monetised mindset and it's pretty gross, it's even more gross when the player base just regurgitate corporate talking points like good little sheep, encouraging bungies behaviour.
I think bungie begged to be on game pass because there playerbass was about to be demolished if this "expansion" wasn't "free" to 10's of millions of players.

As much as I don’t care about how others spend their money, that is a LOT of money. What worries me is the people who spend those amounts on Destiny. I don’t spend money on MTX shops, nor do I play ESO so I’m not affected by those purchases. However, the people who clearly do spend that much money in MTX shops in games like Destiny are promoting poorer game design. I get Destiny might be on the back burner for Bungie now, but with people spending exorbitant sums on Eververse while other players are avoiding those purchases to try and show displeasure with that route, all it takes is the people spending $50-$100 dollars every few weeks on the cosmetics. Individual players like myself who refuse to buy Eververse goods are swept away by the people who spend more on that store than they do on expansions. It might just be how I prefer to use my money, but the idea of spending on such an intangible product is absurd to me. Why anyone would want to support practices that create poorer products in the industry is beyond me.

And for a game like destiny i agree whole heartedly, bungie doesnt seem to care about players time investment (money either). Just bring up a map of the ESO playable area at launch and compare it to now, they manage to bring out a real expansion every year, adding entirely new regions without ever taking away my hard work, new skill lines, new classes, weapons, armour, arenas, trials, dungeons, the list goes on. It is easy to give Zenimax money when what they give me in return is full, complete content that only adds to my game, one of the best houses in that game was completely free as a community goal! Daily login rewards, and enough content to keep you busy for years. I have the money to throw at eso but nothing i buy affects anyone elses gameplay (negatively) it doesn't give me an advantage and everything is reasonably achievable with gameplay. You have a mount, it's just as fast as mine, it has just as much stamina as mine, mine just looks like it crawled out of hell when i summon it and its on fire.

Oh man. In eso you have so many good looking craftable sets, dungeon sets etc., that you dont even need to transmog. Armor is beautiful in eso. I never have an issue with buying stuff in the crown store. I don't really waste money on crates anymore, but all the other cosmetics, housing, deco, pets and mounts are worth it. It's also nice getting that 1500 crown boost every month.

See this is a good point that I think Bungie either doesn’t realize or simply doesn’t care: people will spend money at your cash shop if your game is engaging long term. But why would anyone buy an ornament now? Why would anyone buy a ship or sparrow? Why buy a ghost or emote? People used to believe gear was untouchable once, but now it’s sunset every 12 months. How long before they sunset ships and sparrows and ghosts And if you think they won’t, you are just deluding yourself. There are far more useless bits of the game being taken up with cosmetics than there are gear. Count up the shaders and ships. The same arguments used for Sunsetting gear can be applied to anything in the game. So how valuable is the stuff you are going after? Why go after it if they intend to take it away? So you can grind again? Grinding isn’t content, grinding is what you do so you can play content. I was kind of like a sleepy zombie player before Sunsetting. I bought every expansion, all season passes. Even spent a few dollars on silver for a couple of ornaments I thought were really cool. I probably would have continued doing all of that forever, without complaint. But Bungie ripped the rug out from under me and lifted the veil. I realized it was all pointless and they pointed it out to me on top of it. Now I’m not paying them another dollar. Perhaps never again. All because they changed the way I viewed content. I don’t think they intended for this to happen. But I guess I could thank them? I’ll take my money and time elsewhere.

Im showing that when a developer puts in the time to create truly additional content, my wizards tower for example cost me like, $80 sounds ridiculous i know, but when there are equally amazing player housing completely achievable in game, it's now not as ridiculous. My purchase wasn't NECESSARY to have those things because i have already purchased the game. Im showing that it can be an agreeable financial arrangement, i bought your product and it was the whole product, you, have subsequently brought out ADDITIONAL content and not just QoL improvements that we have to pay for.

Yes in eso I purchased a total of four notable homes plus the ones they rewarded in game. So seven now. I love the housing. We can't even keep our tribute hall in destiny. The only personal space we have....smh.

How have i been ripped off, i have a large player home with crafting tables, a banker, a merchant, a place to put trophies i have acquired, random storage. All of that has ingame value, that doesn't become irrelevant in 12 months.

Are you on drugs? Zenimax is not Bethesda, think fallout76 Vs. ESO. Skyrim tried to monetise mods, MODS! If anything i am helping the gaming community by showing that if you release good, fun, entertaining and COMPLETE content i will pay for it so long as there are ample options outside of the cash shop. Mtx is here, like it or not we are stuck with it. At this point the community needs to decide on the model of mtx (with our wallets) Would you prefer a system that hums along in the background, creating awesome, optional additional content like ESO, or a system shoved in your face that locks quality of life updates behind "expansions" like destiny or BiS weapons locked behind a season pass like CoD. I know what I'll pick.
