Keeping and viability are two different things. You can keep everything you have acquired, it will just be useless in endgame content.

Lol ok. Does Borderlands have an infusion system that let's you drag all the same gear through the entire game? Nope it has a level cap. What happened in the Division2 with Warlords of New York? Oh yeah, they made ALL of top tier gear and weapons completely useless.
